[00:00:00] Speaker A: This is the Morning Journey Rewind with Mark and Brittany. Never miss a moment. [00:00:04] Speaker B: This week on the Morning Journey podcast, Mark and Brittany make everyone do push ups. They give away the Journey hometown Christmas prize pack. Board games are back and if you need a podcast to listen to, we have you covered. Also, did you know they're making sugar free Oreos in 2026? [00:00:20] Speaker C: Brittany and I are a little winded right now. [00:00:22] Speaker B: Things are getting wild here in the studio this morning. So we found this article that tells you, based on your age, how many push ups you should be able to do. [00:00:29] Speaker C: Yes. So. [00:00:30] Speaker B: So I. My age. I'm 35. I'm supposed to be able to do between 11 and 19. I did four or 13. Sorry. I'm supposed to be able to do between 13 and 19 pushups. So I did 14. Just to say I made it past. [00:00:42] Speaker C: I'm supposed to do between, what, seven and 11. So I did seven. [00:00:46] Speaker B: Yeah, you did seven. [00:00:47] Speaker C: Got those done. [00:00:48] Speaker B: So Becky and Deborah are here in the studio. [00:00:50] Speaker C: Deborah, staff members, Deborah and Becky. And they are going to now see if they can meet the push up challenge. [00:00:57] Speaker B: Their minimum is 11. I told them they couldn't do the granny ones on your knees because that's what I wanted to do because that's the only way I do push ups. You have to do full push ups. [00:01:05] Speaker C: All right, here we go. You ready? And go. [00:01:09] Speaker B: One. [00:01:10] Speaker C: One, two, three, four. Good so far. Five, six, seven, seven, eight. Yes. You're doing great. [00:01:26] Speaker B: You're doing it. Nine. [00:01:27] Speaker C: Nine. [00:01:28] Speaker B: Two more. [00:01:28] Speaker A: Two more. [00:01:29] Speaker C: You got it. Ten. Eleven. Eleven. [00:01:33] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:01:34] Speaker C: Now the real challenge is getting up off the floor. [00:01:36] Speaker B: Then you gotta get up off the floor. [00:01:38] Speaker C: You guys did it. [00:01:39] Speaker B: So we all are able to do at least the minimum push ups for our age. That's based on your age. How many push ups are you able to do? I am still sweating from doing that. That was a rough one. I won't be doing pushups again for a very long time. [00:01:54] Speaker C: Are you feeling sore this morning, Brittany? [00:01:56] Speaker B: I finally caught my breath, so that's good. But yeah, we did our push up challenge yesterday. We posted this on the Journey's Facebook page. If you're won, wondering how many you're supposed to do, be able to do based on your age. And so I'm 35. Mine was like. I think it was 11 or. No, mine was 13 to like 15. And I did 14. [00:02:15] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:02:15] Speaker B: So I was. Okay. Yep. [00:02:17] Speaker C: I'm 59. So the, the. I did 7. I was like 7 to 10 is what you were supposed to be able to do. So I, I, I went ahead and did my seven. While we were doing those staff members, Deborah, Becky, they came in, they were like, what are you doing? [00:02:28] Speaker B: So we put those on the air. [00:02:30] Speaker C: We brought them into the studio. They did it. We counted those down while we were on the air. Some other staff members then did it later in the day. So we all passed the push up challenge. [00:02:39] Speaker B: We all could do the push up challenge. So if you're curious how many you need to do, check our Facebook page. My journey fm, my aunt actually texted and was like, I caught the end of that. How many am I supposed to do? So I sent her the list too, and she knocked out, I think 14 or 15. So she's good. And then she sent that. It's so funny. She sent that to her personal trainer at the gym she goes to and said, this might be a fun little thing for your clients to do as well. And so if you wanna take the pushup challenge, it's @MyJourney FM on Facebook. [00:03:06] Speaker A: Your day starts with encouragement the morning journey with Mark and Brittany. [00:03:10] Speaker C: So we've been talking about our Christmas giveaway contest. You had been asked to check out our hometown Christmas video on Facebook, but you had to pay close attention because we had a little bit of a challenge built in there. You had to guess the correct number of emojis in the video and it was a challenge. [00:03:29] Speaker B: It was really hard. I tried and still couldn't find them all. I had to ask for help. [00:03:33] Speaker C: I had to freeze frame it a couple times. [00:03:34] Speaker B: Right. So I'm sure some of you went through frame by frame. We actually had six people guess correctly. Weston, Tiff, Iris, Tina, Patty, and Andy all guessed that there were six stars. So if you, if you want to know, there were actually six gold stars in that very short video. So congratulations to you six. We will be drawing a name from the six here in just a minute. [00:03:58] Speaker C: All right, it is time. [00:04:00] Speaker B: It's time. [00:04:01] Speaker C: Who's gonna be pick our winner for who guessed correctly for the Christmas emojis. In our hometown Christmas video, there were six stars. [00:04:12] Speaker B: Six people, six star emojis and six people. Weston, Tiff, Iris, Tina, Patty, and Andy. Who is it gonna be? Mark, you wanna do the drawings? [00:04:21] Speaker C: Reach in. All right. [00:04:25] Speaker B: Who is it? [00:04:26] Speaker C: It is Weston. [00:04:28] Speaker B: All right, Weston, congratulations. [00:04:30] Speaker C: Congratulations. [00:04:32] Speaker B: You have won the hometown Christmas package. I actually think Weston guess correctly as well. So congratulations, Weston. Thank you everyone for playing. It was difficult, but Weston is our winner. [00:04:44] Speaker A: From the alarm to the workplace, helping you start your day. [00:04:48] Speaker C: I'm on my way to work. [00:04:49] Speaker A: It's the morning journey with Mark and Brittany. [00:04:51] Speaker C: Well, oh, I mentioned this. I think after Thanksgiving when we were back on that, over Thanksgiving, our family played the game Trouble. I had not played that in a long time. [00:05:01] Speaker B: So fun. [00:05:01] Speaker C: It was a lot of fun. We had a great time with that. But then saw this, that board games are making a comeback, especially among teens and young adults. I think that is great to hear. [00:05:11] Speaker B: I think so too. It's a great way to get the family all together. It's super fun. And if you're looking for a gift for someone this Christmas, I mean, what better than a board game? Some of my favorites that made the top 50 list are left, right, center. We play that with my family every time we go home with like quarters where you like roll the dice. Taco cat, goat cheese pizza. [00:05:29] Speaker C: So what is that? Because I've heard it, but I've never, I've never played that game. [00:05:32] Speaker B: It seems so simple. It's a card game and all you do, no matter what's on your card, you just go around a circ and you say taco cat, goat cheese pizza. But if what you say matches what's on the card, you have to slap the deck. And then there's a couple cards that you have to do hand motions for. So that one gets pretty confusing. I've been banned from playing codenames. [00:05:50] Speaker C: Is that right? Yes, I've played codenames before. [00:05:53] Speaker B: That one's fun. But you have to give clues to your team and I tend to not be able to control my facial expression. So they've banned me to the other room. I do have a friend whose dad will host game nights and introduce new games to us. So I always enjoy doing that because there's a lot of games that I've never heard of that he's introduced us to. [00:06:10] Speaker C: Sequence is on the list as well. And that is a fun game. [00:06:13] Speaker B: That one is. [00:06:14] Speaker C: Never played that one. Check that one out. Some people have really gotten into it. They actually make their own build their own sequence boards. Like the giant layout of the cards. I've seen people do that. So sequence is a lot of fun. Dominion is on there. Settlers of Catan is on there as well. [00:06:28] Speaker B: I love that one. That one's fun. [00:06:29] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:06:30] Speaker B: There's also the exit games and if you haven't done this, these are fun. They're like a one time game. It's kind of like almost like an escape room in a box, but a lot of times you destroy the box. They're like a one time thing. You get to play at one time because a lot of the clues are in the box. Part of the box. And we played one with my niece over Thanksgiving. They make one for kids too. Okay, that's a lot easier but like good for the kids. So I think board games, great gift, get the family together. Yeah, I think you should get everybody in your family a board game and then all sit around and play the different ones. [00:07:01] Speaker A: Good company makes for a great day. The Morning Journey with Mark and Brittany. [00:07:06] Speaker C: Hey, you can check out my Journey FM for a list of all of our podcasts, including Diary of the Mom Squad that's hosted by Brittany and Kate. And y' all have a new edition coming out? [00:07:15] Speaker B: We do. We have a new episode that dropped today about Christmas and the difference between just making the holiday about Jesus and how we go about doing that and giving ourselves grace to just take a break during this season that seems so busy all the time and really focus on the true meaning of the season. And so if you want to check it out myjourney fm.com you can find all of our podcasts there. There is a new Diary of the Mom Squad. [00:07:38] Speaker A: Start on a positive note. You're on the Morning Journey with Mark and Brittany. [00:07:44] Speaker C: When it comes to desserts, I am not usually a fan of the kind that do not have sugar in them. I am not a fan of the no sugar dessert. So I'm not sure I'm going to put this on my I'll wait and see list. Coming in January, Oreos is releasing the first ever sugar free cookies. These will be available in their original and double stuff and those are coming to the US In January. [00:08:09] Speaker B: I saw this and I'm kind of excited about it now. Double stuffed Oreos are my favorite. My favorite cookie. [00:08:14] Speaker C: Is it okay? [00:08:15] Speaker B: Yes. So I don't really like people messing with my favorite cookie, but if it tastes the same and has less sugar, then that makes it better for you, right? [00:08:23] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:08:24] Speaker B: So I can feel less bad about eating like 5 or 6 Oreos if it has no sugar in it. So we will see. When they come out in January, I'll do a taste test. Unless you know, as someone who that's my favorite cookie, I will be able to tell if it tastes different or not. [00:08:36] Speaker C: Yeah. Some people had a preview of these and they are claiming that they taste pretty close to the regular Oreos. They say it has like maybe like a little lighter taste is what they're saying and a little bit of an aftertaste but not bad. [00:08:50] Speaker B: So interesting. Yeah, well, we'll have to Do a taste test when they come out in January. And if they're just as good as the original, then I will be switching to sugar free, I guess. [00:08:59] Speaker A: Uplifting and encouraging because you need it now more than ever. [00:09:03] Speaker C: You betcha. [00:09:04] Speaker A: The morning journey with Mark and Brittany. [00:09:07] Speaker C: I was getting ready this morning and realized I need a haircut. It's that time. It's getting a little long for me, and there's not a lot up top. [00:09:13] Speaker B: You gotta get the sides trimmed at. [00:09:15] Speaker C: The sides at the back. [00:09:16] Speaker B: I'm kind of upset that you didn't notice I got a haircut on Friday. Oh, and you didn't even say anything. [00:09:22] Speaker C: Yes, you did. [00:09:22] Speaker B: Yeah, I did. It's okay. You can't really tell. I get the same haircut once every, like, six months to a year. Year. I just get the ends trimmed. That's really it. [00:09:30] Speaker C: Our student worker last week, she came in, Maddie, and she said, mark, you haven't said anything about my coat, my new coat. And I just usually don't make comments about people's appearances. [00:09:42] Speaker B: Mark's not that observant. He didn't notice. So, yeah, so I got a haircut, but it looks the same, so I'll let you off the hook. And now I know that you're getting one today, so I'll say something. [00:09:51] Speaker C: Yeah, I'll trim the beard up. [00:09:54] Speaker A: Start on a positive note. You're on the morning journey with Mark and Brittany. [00:09:59] Speaker C: I don't know about you, but sometimes when I pray, I kind of reflect back. Especially if it's like a public prayer. I say, oh, you know what? I don't know that if I said that the right way or maybe that came out the wrong way. But I found this quote from Max Lucado. It says, our prayers may be awkward, our attempts may be feeble, but since the power of prayer is in the one who hears it. But our prayers do make a difference. [00:10:23] Speaker B: I love that because it takes all the pressure off of it. God, really. I mean, there's scripture that supports sometimes when we can't find the words, the Holy Spirit intercedes for us and knows what we're about to say. And so sometimes our prayers are just us on our knees crying out to God, saying we need help, and he knows exactly what we need. And so I think about that a lot, though, when I pray publicly, I'm like, oh, that probably didn't sound the greatest. But then I think about it and I'm like, well, I'm not praying to the people in the room. [00:10:47] Speaker C: Exactly. It's not a Performance. [00:10:48] Speaker B: Right. I'm praying to Jesus. And a lot of times when I'm in a setting, especially if it's like a prayer for a meal in a public setting and it goes on and on, I do find myself being like, okay, we could just thank God for the food and come along. But I do love that because our prayers, no matter how awkward they are, God hears them. He listens and he answers. [00:11:07] Speaker C: We're just going to worship, we're going. [00:11:09] Speaker B: To be encouraged and we're just going to be together. [00:11:13] Speaker A: That's the idea. You're on the Morning Journey with Mark and Brittany. [00:11:17] Speaker C: We are a listener supported ministry. Thank you so much to everybody who have supported the journey. Not only is this the end of the 2025 here, it's also we're coming up on the end of our anniversary year. Ten years we have been the journey. So thank you for listening, thank you for supporting the station. And if you would like to make an end of the year gift, you can do that a couple of different ways. [00:11:40] Speaker B: Yeah, it's tax deductible. You can go to myjourneyfm.com, click on the red donate heart. You can also, if you're listening via the app, you can tap the heart on the app to give as well. You can text give or donate to 800-424-959 and give that way. But we are listener supported. We've been here the last 10 years because of generous gifts from listeners just like you. And so if you'd like to give at the end of the year, we would so, so appreciate it and help us get to 2026 in the right spot. [00:12:07] Speaker C: I just kind of channel surfing through the radio. [00:12:09] Speaker A: Families are catching on and I'm like, wow, this is pretty cool to the best way. [00:12:13] Speaker B: But now this is the only thing. [00:12:14] Speaker A: I listen to now to wake up. [00:12:15] Speaker B: My style of everything is starting to change. [00:12:17] Speaker A: It's the morning journey with Mark and Brittany. [00:12:20] Speaker C: Well, it is a first. A Chesapeake animal shelter was empty. For the first time ever, all the dogs found a home. [00:12:29] Speaker B: Talk about quiet. Like, if you've ever been to an animal shelter, you hear the dogs barking and the staff said, you know, although quiet, it's just such a good reminder of what can happen when the community becomes like comes together and takes all of the animals out of the shelter and gives them a home. So I don't know what they do now if the shelter's empty, but you hardly ever hear of that, like, of a whole animal shelter being empty. [00:12:51] Speaker C: I think that's the first time I've ever heard of that actually happening. [00:12:55] Speaker B: Right. There's normally at least one dog in there, so pretty awesome. And yeah, good job everybody. Taking the dogs and giving them a home. [00:13:02] Speaker C: I just kind of channel surfing through the radio. [00:13:05] Speaker A: Families are catching on and I'm like. [00:13:07] Speaker B: Wow, this is pretty cool. [00:13:07] Speaker A: To the best way. [00:13:08] Speaker B: So now this is the only thing. [00:13:09] Speaker A: I listen to now to wake up. [00:13:11] Speaker B: My style of everything has started and changed. [00:13:13] Speaker A: It's the morning journey with Mark and Brittany. [00:13:16] Speaker C: So this time of year it can be very difficult to keep up with your health, your fitness goals. [00:13:21] Speaker B: You know how many gingerbread cookies I ate yesterday? [00:13:23] Speaker C: Speaking of that. [00:13:24] Speaker B: More than one. [00:13:26] Speaker C: But some health experts swear by this method. It's called the three, two, one method. They say it's a great way to stay on top of your fitness goals and kind of help you stay on schedule. [00:13:37] Speaker B: It's not that hard to follow either. It's about creating three specific goals, health goals and make sure they're achievable goals. And then two workout options and then one self care activity. So you're getting the workout in but you're also taking care of yourself. And then you just have three goals to focus on. And so that makes it a little bit easier I think to break things down in like a simple rule like that. And three, two, one's easy to remember. [00:14:00] Speaker C: Yeah, exactly. I think with like the like the, the three aspect of this is it could be like you know what you're going to eat. Maybe it deals with your, your workout plan, but that's really what it is. It's make a plan. It's not just saying I'm going to eat healthier or I'm going to work out more. It's actually making a plan, a basic plan. 2 then is deals with your workout options. Pick a couple of things there that you enjoy doing. And then one is self care activity. Maybe it's how you release stress. Or for you it could be getting a massage if you like those. [00:14:31] Speaker B: Yeah. Or even just watching your favorite TV show. Something that you want to spend time doing just yourself, just to relax and decompress. And so I think that's a great way to think about it. Through the holiday is super easy. 3, 2 and 1. [00:14:44] Speaker A: Thanks for catching up on the morning Journey Rewind podcast with Mark and Brittany.
