[00:00:00] Speaker A: This is the Morning Journey Rewind with Mark and Brittany. Never miss a moment. [00:00:04] Speaker B: This week on the Morning Journey Rewind. Mark and Brittany want to know what your favorite Christmas gift has been. We've all been experiencing snow over the last few days. Tuesday's tasty treats was postponed, and one kid came to his Christmas play dressed as Elvis in what turned into a hilarious accident. [00:00:20] Speaker C: So we've been asking you on our Facebook page, what is your best Christmas gift ever? [00:00:27] Speaker B: It's taking me a while to figure this out. I've had to think back, and I've had to think hard because I've had. I've had a lot of good Christmas gifts. And so I think for me, my favorite one of all time, especially growing up, was I had a Barbie Jeep that you could, like, sit in and drive, and it fit two people, and it had a little, like, back storage where I would put my fake golf clubs, like, the plastic golf clubs. So I'd have to say Barbie Jeep was probably my favorite. So much so that I wouldn't let any of my friends drive it, which, looking back, is kind of mean. So I apologize to everyone for that. Yes. What about you? [00:00:59] Speaker C: Similar car theme. My favorite Christmas gift. When I was a kid, I loved auto racing. Still do. And so one year, all I asked for, I wanted an AFX electric racetrack. And so Christmas morning came. My sister and I, we were opening up all the gifts. Those were great. But there was no racetrack. [00:01:16] Speaker B: Oh, no. [00:01:17] Speaker C: And so then my dad said, hey, go into the dining room. He said, I left the bag to put all the wrapping paper on one of the dining room chairs. And so I pulled back the chair, and there it was. Had the racetrack on there. And so played with that thing forever. [00:01:31] Speaker B: That's awesome. That reminds me of A Christmas Story. My favorite Christmas movie. That moment where he is looking for the BB gun and it's not there. And the dad's like, I think I see something. [00:01:40] Speaker C: The red rider. [00:01:41] Speaker B: It's always good when you can surprise someone with what they actually want for Christmas. So, yeah, Barbie Jeep and a racetrack. Love it. [00:01:49] Speaker C: So we've been talking about our best Christmas gifts ever. We've asked you to be a part of this and comment on the Journey Facebook page. If you haven't done that, you can go there and still do that. Terri says the frame poem she got letting her know that her very first grandchild was on the way. It was the baby telling her that she was on the way in a poem. She said it was beautiful. And this still sits on her table. In the dining room. I love that. Isn't that great? [00:02:19] Speaker B: That's so sweet. What a creative way to, like, make the announcement to your family, too. That's awesome. Betty Lou who? No, just Betty Lou. She wrote in. She said mine was. Hers was when she got roller skates. That could be fun. I love a good pair of roller skates. Now, are you an inline skater or like the four wheels? [00:02:36] Speaker C: So I've never done the inline skating. [00:02:38] Speaker B: Okay. [00:02:38] Speaker C: I've never done that. So four wheels. But I'm actually a better ice skater than I am a roller skater. [00:02:43] Speaker B: Interesting. Now, I'm better at roller skating, but I like the four wheels. Like the four spread out into a square. Not in a row. I don't inline skate very well, but I can ice skate. Okay. [00:02:54] Speaker C: We've been asking you to share some of your favorite Christmas gifts ever. I was talking to somebody the other day, and they said, you know, as. As they get older, they like the experiences just getting together with family. And that's what several people have shared. Kathy and Lisa both say that. That they are. They like it when their adult children are home for Christmas and their grandchildren as well. [00:03:18] Speaker B: Yeah. Connie agreed with that. She said, having my family with me on Christmas Day. Jennifer said, books or fancy chocolate? I say, why not both? That sounds like a great combo. And then Lula wrote in and said some good gospel music. There you go. Love that. [00:03:33] Speaker C: I just kind of channel surfing through the radio. [00:03:36] Speaker A: Families are catching on, and I'm like. [00:03:37] Speaker C: Wow, this is pretty cool. [00:03:38] Speaker A: To the best way. [00:03:39] Speaker B: So now this is the only thing. [00:03:40] Speaker A: I listen to now to wake up. [00:03:41] Speaker B: My style of everything has started and changed. [00:03:44] Speaker A: It's the morning journey with Mark and Brittany. [00:03:47] Speaker B: I actually got out. I went sledding. So that was fun. Did you really? Yeah. [00:03:50] Speaker C: I haven't been sledding in forever. [00:03:52] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. We have a really nice hill behind our house. So we went sledding. We ate snow cream. I've had to teach Stella the difference between, like, clean snow that you can eat and not bending down and licking snow off the ground because it's dirty. So that's been fun. We built a snowman. So I'm kind of done with the snow. [00:04:09] Speaker C: That's it. [00:04:10] Speaker B: I've done snow things. I have snow cream in my freezer still. I don't have enough Eagle brand to make more snow cream. And I don't feel like going to. To get more. So I'm done. I'm done with the snow. We had the one good snow. We did all the things I'm Done. But we are going to get more snow today, so I guess I'm going to have to find more snow activities to do. [00:04:29] Speaker A: Your day starts with encouragement. The morning journey with Mark and Brittany. [00:04:33] Speaker C: This is a journey Hometown Christmas. It is Mark and Brittany with you. Well, normally on Tuesdays we do our Tuesday tasty treats, but we're going to have to delay that for a week. [00:04:44] Speaker B: Yep. We're going to have to postpone that because of the weather. And so if you haven't signed up yet for Tuesday tasty treats, make sure you get signed up now@myjourney fm.com from. [00:04:52] Speaker A: The alarm to the workplace, helping you start your day. [00:04:55] Speaker C: I'm on my way to work. [00:04:56] Speaker A: It's the morning journey with Mark and Brittany. [00:04:59] Speaker C: We are Mark and Brittany with you on a journey Hometown Christmas. So a school was having their Christmas presentation, their Christmas play, and a little boy was told, okay, you need to be Elvis the elf. [00:05:13] Speaker B: I love this. [00:05:14] Speaker C: He went home and told his mom, said, hey, I need to be. I need to be Elvis. [00:05:20] Speaker B: The picture is so cute. He shows up in a full on, like actual Elvis, like Elvis Presley outfit, not an elf. I mean, I don't know if the Christmas play needed some pizzazz, but it definitely got some when he showed up as Elvis, that's for sure. [00:05:34] Speaker C: What was cool about it is he handled it great. He handled it. He did. They said he handled it great and he wore the Elvis Presley outfit with pride. [00:05:42] Speaker B: The question is, did he sing Blue Christmas as part of this performance? [00:05:45] Speaker C: Yeah, exactly. [00:05:46] Speaker B: I need to know. [00:05:48] Speaker A: Start on a positive note. You're on the morning journey with Mark and Brittany. [00:05:53] Speaker C: By the way, we hope that you enjoy the Christmas music. We appreciate you listening and also letting us know that you're listening. [00:06:01] Speaker B: Yeah, we love hearing from you. And Madison wrote in, she said, thank you for doing what you guys do best and spreading the hope and love. My son and I listen every morning on our way to work. It's one of the best parts of our day because it sets the mood for the whole day. So thank you. Well, thank you, Madison. We're happy that you spend your mornings with us and that you and your son get to worship the Lord before you head out to work or to school. It really does make a difference in the day. Starting the day off in worship, good. [00:06:26] Speaker A: Company makes for a great day. The morning journey with Mark and Brittany. [00:06:31] Speaker C: It's Mark and Britney with you on a journey Hometown Christmas. Well, every year around this time, you'll see different groups will do a survey on what do people want For Christmas this year, what are the the popular gifts interesting this year that people are saying they want practical gifts. For example, several people said they wanted help paying their bills. Maybe help paying with their car loan or their mortgage even. [00:06:56] Speaker B: That's an interesting thing to ask for. I think maybe ask for cash instead of being like, help me pay my bills. Maybe that'll go better. [00:07:02] Speaker C: So that is pretty much what I am doing for Christmas this year because I've got so many relatives that said, you know what? I just want cash or a gift card. [00:07:08] Speaker B: The sad part in my family is a lot of the kids want gift cards, too. And so it makes Christmas morning kind of sad because everybody's just like, ooh, a gift card. But you never get to really see what they buy with that gift card. But it also, on the other hand, you definitely get what you want when you get a gift card because then you can go and pick out what you want. [00:07:24] Speaker C: That's right. [00:07:24] Speaker B: My least favorite question, Birthdays, Christmas. My least favorite question is, what do you want? [00:07:29] Speaker C: I'm usually the last person to submit my Christmas list to the family. [00:07:33] Speaker B: I'm like, I don't want anything. I would rather have an experience just being with people, going out and doing things. I don't need material items, so that is a really hard question for me. But I guess if you have cash, you can go do things uplifting and. [00:07:46] Speaker A: Encouraging because you need it now more than ever. [00:07:49] Speaker C: You betcha. [00:07:50] Speaker A: The Morning Journey with Mark and Brittany. [00:07:52] Speaker C: It's a journey. Hometown Christmas. We are Mark and Brittany with you. So glad that you are with us this morning. If you want to find out maybe about Christmas services coming up or festivals or maybe Christmas parades, you can find all [email protected] one of my favorite things. And if you have an event coming up that you want to get the word out about, you can click the submit an event button as well and submit your event Start on a positive note. [00:08:24] Speaker A: You're on the Morning Journey with Mark and Brittany. [00:08:28] Speaker C: Brittany's daughter Stella has been home from school. She's home again today, but I understand she's ready to get out. She's getting bored. [00:08:35] Speaker B: Look, she only goes three days a week, and so she hasn't gone at all this week. And she is definitely my child. Every day she's been like, where are we going today? Can we go somewhere? I want to go somewhere. And I'm like, no, we can't. But I'm starting to get to that point where you know the song, like, mom and dad hardly wait for school to start again. I'm like, are we ever gonna go back to school? Like, so I'm feeling it. Maybe you're with me this morning, and you're like, when are the kids going back to school? Because I know I'm going stir crazy. I know she's going stir crazy. So hopefully tomorrow, for most people, they'll be back. [00:09:05] Speaker C: We're just gonna worship, we're gonna be. [00:09:08] Speaker B: Encouraged, and we're just gonna be together. [00:09:11] Speaker A: That's the idea. You're on the Morning Journey with Mark and Brittany. [00:09:15] Speaker C: Have you had any Christmas treats? Do the neighbors in your neighborhood, do they actually bring, like, Christmas cookies and treats to you? [00:09:23] Speaker B: My one neighbor, Whitney, she's great. Every year we get treats from her, and she texted me on Monday and said, we're walking up the hill to your house, and we're gonna bring you some treats. And so she brings us peanut butter and chocolate fudge. [00:09:34] Speaker C: Okay. [00:09:34] Speaker B: And then these giant cinnamon rolls that are so, so good. And so this was Monday. Today is Wednesday. We have one cinnamon roll and maybe two pieces of fudge left. Like, we have been pounding the treats this time of year. [00:09:47] Speaker C: If cinnamon rolls are made correctly, they are hard to resist. [00:09:51] Speaker B: They are so good. So thank you, Whitney, for adding to my Christmas fluff, as I like to call it. [00:09:57] Speaker A: Thanks for catching up on the Morning Journey Rewind podcast with Mark and Brittany.
