[00:01:07] Speaker C: You know, one of the incredible things that happens during our partner invitation are the stories that you share. We have 10 years of stories of your faithfulness, of how God has seen how you've seen God work in your life. And we're grateful that God uses this station to encourage you. But I gotta tell you, your stories also minister to us and encourage us. It has been amazing. We're looking forward to the partner invitation that begins Tuesday, September 16th. [00:01:33] Speaker D: Mark your calendars. You are invited. We would love for you to listen and hear those stories. We would so appreciate it. You can get all the details and give [email protected] A great day begins with a positive morning. [00:01:57] Speaker A: You're on the Morning Journey with Mark. [00:01:59] Speaker C: And Brittany for a couple of days this week. We had a moth hanging around the station. He was in our window. I think we, we kind of settled on a name. We're calling it. He was our artist in residence. [00:02:11] Speaker D: Yes. [00:02:12] Speaker C: Yes. Matthew West. [00:02:13] Speaker D: Yes, Matthew W. West. Yeah, it's been pretty great actually. We took a lot of pictures of him. We Posted like he was hanging out on the window, and then just, like, listening to the music. And then we had, like, a lunch update, and he was still just hanging out, and he didn't really move. Like, we could get close and take pictures, and he didn't care. [00:02:30] Speaker C: There was a whole text thread going. [00:02:32] Speaker D: There's a whole texting thread. And then yesterday morning, I had a sad update for everyone. I took a picture. He was on his back laying on the sidewalk. [00:02:39] Speaker C: Yes. [00:02:40] Speaker D: So Matthew west is. Is no longer with us, but that's okay. He had a good run. We had a lot of fun with him. And so I think Deborah has affectionately put him back on the window. [00:02:51] Speaker C: He did. [00:02:52] Speaker D: He's not alive, but he's still with us. [00:02:55] Speaker A: Mark, Brittany, and you. You're on the morning journey to rescue rats. [00:03:01] Speaker C: That is not a new animated movie. [00:03:03] Speaker D: No, it's not. Now, we've all heard of, like, rescue dogs. When earthquakes and things happen, they send dogs in to try and find survivors. But, I mean, rats are smaller and they can get in tighter spaces. So they're putting little tiny cameras, they're strapping them on rats for, like, rescue missions so that, like, first responders can see via the camera where the rat goes. [00:03:23] Speaker C: Yeah. So the rats, they are using their acute sense of smell, and then they are being trained. They're going through what's called distractor training. It teaches them to remain focused and ignore any smells that they may encounter in the rubble. [00:03:40] Speaker D: As long as they don't think my leg is a pizza when they find me, I'll be okay. [00:03:44] Speaker C: So I don't know. I'm trying to put myself in that position. So you're needing to be rescued, Right? [00:03:48] Speaker D: You're already panicked. [00:03:49] Speaker C: Yeah. And then all of a sudden, like, it's one thing. Okay. If it's a rescued dog, you're like, oh, that's probably more comforting. A rat. I don't know. It kind of sounds like that's like snakes on a plane. [00:03:59] Speaker D: You need, like, rescue from the rat on top of being rescued from the rubble. I don't know about this. [00:04:04] Speaker A: They'll help you wake up. The morning journey with Mark and Brittany. [00:04:08] Speaker C: So when I woke up this morning and checked my phone, I had a Facebook memory. It's a picture of Brittany in my office. She is wearing a cow Christmas sweater and a cow mask. [00:04:20] Speaker D: Not surprised. [00:04:21] Speaker C: Yeah. No. I think that's the first time that I realized this is not just. She doesn't just, like, cow. She has and obsession with cows. And we have found the perfect place. No matter if you love your job, we all go through those times with now, what else would I do if I wasn't doing this? So we found yours. [00:04:38] Speaker D: What is it? [00:04:39] Speaker C: Yes, it's in East Lansing, Michigan. It's at the Dairy Cattle Teaching and Research Center. [00:04:44] Speaker D: What? [00:04:45] Speaker C: Yeah, it houses 250 cattle. [00:04:48] Speaker D: Oh my goodness. [00:04:49] Speaker C: How about that? So you could work there. I did not know this, that Michigan leads the dairy industry in the nation in milk production per cow. [00:04:59] Speaker D: I did not know that either. So I guess what I'm saying is give me like some way to do the show remote and I'm gonna go play with cows because I don't want to leave here. But a job where I could play with cows every day seems pretty appealing to me. Move over everyone in Michigan. You guys always make me smile. [00:05:18] Speaker A: The Morning Journey with Mark and Brittany. [00:05:22] Speaker C: Well, we mentioned that today is the day. It's the giveaway for the Adventure Bible. This is a great bible for kids. All kind of games, activities, and creative ways to learn the scripture. [00:05:33] Speaker D: If you're part of the Journey Kids Club, you got that email about how to enter to win. And we got so many videos of your children reciting their favorite Bible verses. It's always so cute to see. Our winner of the Adventure Bible is Aria. Congratulations, Aria. So, so exciting. We will get that bible to you and hope that you have a great adventure as you go through it. [00:05:52] Speaker A: Some great music. The Morning Journey with Mark and Brittany. [00:05:56] Speaker C: I was in Virginia beach over the weekend for my 1 year old nephew's birthday. My mom has now made a quilt for every member of our family. She makes beautiful quilts. So she made Louie his quilt and had him all wrapped up in that on Saturday. But things like quilting, crocheting, knitting, I wonder how much of that is being passed down to generations. But they're saying now that these hobbies are good for the brain. [00:06:28] Speaker D: Yeah, they're called grandma hobbies and they can actually help you live longer. Now this is scientifically proven, so take that with a grain of salt. But it does say that things like that will help you live longer. Bird watching, gardening, crochet, knitting, baking. I actually baked banana bread yesterday. [00:06:44] Speaker C: Ah, there you go. [00:06:45] Speaker D: That's my grandma hobby. I also really enjoy puzzles. So I will be that old lady who's sitting in like the home just doing puzzles all the time. And I'm okay with that. But yeah, so picking up a hobby, they say it helps you really just escape daily pressures and creates that calming space where you can unwind and recharge. Which is why it's such a good health benefit. So people who have hobbies tend to de stress better. And we all know stress is like, what causes like, heart issues. And so I can see how those hobbies would help you live a little bit longer. [00:07:14] Speaker C: Yeah, exactly. Then anytime you learn something new, it's kind of a boost for your brain. [00:07:19] Speaker D: Yeah. Because you're like, I did that. Look at me. [00:07:21] Speaker A: Your day starts with encouragement. The Morning Journey with Mark and Brittany. [00:07:25] Speaker C: So a couple, Deborah and Joe, Both had experienced COVID 19. Then a while ago, they began experiencing fatigue, some brain fog. They had to take naps during the day because they were so tired. And they thought, oh, no, not again. Covid again. Turns out that was not the case. Deborah by mistake had bought decaf instead of regular coffee. [00:07:47] Speaker D: Oh, no. Yeah, I guess that would be hard to kind of figure out, like, what is the cause? Because if you just make the coffee every day and don't really look at it, you kind of don't know that that's the issue. So. [00:07:57] Speaker C: So they say that if you're used to caffeine and you do not have it, you can experience withdrawals within 12 to 24 hours, including flu like, symptoms. [00:08:07] Speaker D: Oh, my goodness. Believe that. So this is like I have a small cup of coffee first thing in the morning, like when I first wake up. That's really just because I like the warmth on my throat, like, and then I'll another one in the morning after I get home. But caffeine does nothing for me. I could drink an energy drink. I could drink a cup of coffee at midnight and go straight to bed. It does nothing for me. [00:08:27] Speaker C: Another person said they did a cold turkey caffeine detox for about a week between jobs. They slept 16 plus hours a day between their sleeping at night and their naps. That's how much it affected them. [00:08:40] Speaker D: Goodness, that's crazy. Well, it's a good reminder that anything can be addicting. And so if that's you with caffeine, maybe it's time to take a break. But yeah, I could see how that would give you a little, like, mess up if you are used to it and don't have it for a while. [00:08:55] Speaker A: Thanks for catching up on the Morning Journey Rewind podcast with Mark and Brittany. [00:09:00] Speaker C: If you are were around in the 90s and were using the Internet, you are very familiar with that sound. [00:09:08] Speaker D: What a lovely sound. It gives me anxiety just hearing it now because you'd start to hear the sound and inevitably someone in your household would pick up the phone and kick you off The Internet, and you'd have to do it all over again. But what I didn't know is AOL finally doing away with dial up. [00:09:25] Speaker C: So I didn't know that AOL still had dial up. [00:09:29] Speaker D: I mean, now that you say it, I'm like, true. Because we've had, like, wireless Internet for so long now that I didn't know that was still a thing. [00:09:35] Speaker C: I think most people were surprised when they said that. What, they're ending at the end of, what, September? [00:09:39] Speaker D: I think it's just really sad to think that, like, generations past, probably mine, will never know that sound. It's such a good sound. I'm gonna play it again just so that we can get the younger generations in here. They can say that they've heard the dial up sound. Oh, memories. [00:09:54] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:09:56] Speaker D: It would take forever, too. And you'd be like, don't pick up the phone. [00:10:03] Speaker A: It's the Morning Journey with Mark and Brittany. [00:10:06] Speaker D: Well, Mark, do you have an Instagram? [00:10:07] Speaker C: I do not. [00:10:08] Speaker D: Oh, well, that's probably smart. I do. And I just found out that they have added this feature where you can, like, find your friends, basically. And it automatically, when they added it, like, turned your location on. So if you are listening right now and you have an Instagram, make sure you go to your settings and, like, the privacy part and make sure you turn that location off, because. [00:10:27] Speaker C: Yeah, that doesn't make me want to get Instagram. [00:10:29] Speaker D: No. And we don't want people, like, just stalking us, basically, and knowing where we are. So make sure you turn that off. If you have Instagram and you didn't know that is a new feature. I went and looked at ours and it was, like, automatically turned on. And I was like, okay, that's not okay. So I turned it off. So you're good. We're hidden once. [00:10:46] Speaker A: Thanks for catching up on the Morning Journey Rewind podcast with Mark and Brittany. [00:10:50] Speaker C: Brittany thinks that she may be shrinking. [00:10:53] Speaker D: I do. So I don't know if I'm actually shrinking. I'm going to measure myself tonight and find out. I am five, seven and a half, and so is my husband. We've always been the same height. Now, if he's wearing. If I'm wearing shoes and I'm barefoot, I'm a little bit shorter. Or if I'm wearing heels, then he's shorter. But the other day I was lining up, like, he shaves his head at home. So I was, like, lining up the back of it, and I felt like I had to, like, almost, like, stand up straighter or, like, be on my tiptoes a little bit. I was like, either you're getting taller or I'm shrinking. Now he hopes he's getting taller. He always wanted to be taller. And I hope he's getting taller for the sake of me not shrinking. Like, I don't want to start shrinking now. I'm only 35. [00:11:29] Speaker C: Yeah, well, so between the ages of 30 and 70, men typically lose about an inch of height. Women may shrink by about 2 inches. What? Maybe you're started already. [00:11:39] Speaker D: No, I don't want to get shorter. [00:11:41] Speaker C: The incredible shrinking Britney. [00:11:43] Speaker D: This is why I wear high heels. [00:11:46] Speaker A: Start on a positive note. You're on the Morning Journey with Mark and Brittany.
