[00:01:53] Speaker C: People are getting their fantasy football rosters finalized, including Brittany. How many, how many leagues are you involved in this year? [00:02:01] Speaker D: This year I'm only involved in one. So it should be a lot. Yeah, and it's a friends league that we've had since about 2018. It's the same people every year. We have a big giant fantasy football trophy. My name is on it. I won in 2020, by the way. We've had no repeats yet. My husband Phil has yet to win. So last night we drafted and I like to get a quarterback and then they're like starting receiver, like their number one receiver. And so I picked up Terry McLaurin because I'm a Commanders fan. So of course. [00:02:30] Speaker C: So we know where you're going with this. [00:02:31] Speaker D: So I was like, yes, I'm going to get Jaden Daniels. It's going to be a great season. It's going to be awes. My husband picked right before me and what did he do? He stole Jaden right out from under me. So I'm very upset. I ended up with Patrick Mahomes. So it's not like, well, that's not bad. I'm gonna be all right. But yeah, pretty upset about that, but very excited. Football season is back officially tomorrow. [00:02:57] Speaker A: They'll help you wake up the morning journey with Mark and Brittany. [00:03:01] Speaker C: Well, the first day of school is huge. Not just for the kids, but for the parents too. It's like watching them take their first steps all over again, but this time out into the world. So Brittany's daughter Stella had her first day of school yesterday. So how did she do and how did you do? [00:03:18] Speaker D: She did great. We figured she would be like this. So we go over there and the advantages to being so close to the school is we can walk her over. So we walk her over there, they come and get her. She walks right into the school, doesn't even look back. Doesn't wave goodbye. Doesn't. Does not care. Goes into school. Then our school's so sweet. They gave us like cookies and tissues. Cause they knew. Yeah, they knew. They were like, we know the parents need this today. So yes, I cried. I was sad. The disadvantage as to being so close to the school is that when an emergency vehicle shows up at the school on the first day of school that happened, you automatically panic. It did. And so I can see the school from my house. So I like ran through the yard and like am peeking through the woods to see and I was like checking my phone to see if I was getting a phone call. Everything was fine. It was all good. But yeah, so that was a little panicked moment for the first day of school. [00:04:10] Speaker C: For me, that's a heart stopper. [00:04:11] Speaker D: This is like the first time she's ever been like, away from us also. Cause she'll go to the nursery at church, but that's only for like an hour and we're in the same building. So this was a huge step for us. And it was so quiet. Like, the house was so, so quiet. It was very, very weird to say. [00:04:26] Speaker C: I think that would almost be the hardest. I mean, that would be harder maybe, than the dropping them off. [00:04:32] Speaker D: I think it's gonna be weird for me when I get home today and she's not there. That's also probably gonna make me cry. [00:04:39] Speaker B: You guys always make me smile. [00:04:41] Speaker A: The Morning journey with Mark and Brittany. [00:04:44] Speaker C: Have you ever wondered about the phrase o'? Clock? Like at 7:00'? Clock? [00:04:49] Speaker D: Oh, actually, I haven't, but now that you mentioned it, I'm like, why do we say that? Like, seven o', clock? Seven o'. Clock, seven o'. Clock. [00:04:55] Speaker C: So apparently it goes back to the original phrase of the clock. [00:05:00] Speaker D: Oh, interesting. [00:05:01] Speaker C: So we would say, I'll meet you at six of the clock. [00:05:05] Speaker D: Okay. [00:05:06] Speaker C: So this started back in, like, around 1384 with the growing popularity of mechanical clocks, because before that time. Time was measured by, like, sundials. [00:05:17] Speaker D: Yeah. So I guess they said, I'll meet you when the sun's at this part in the sky back then. [00:05:21] Speaker C: So with the introduction of the mechanical clock, it became of the clock, and then at some point it just became o'. Clock. [00:05:28] Speaker D: I'm glad we shortened it. I think o' clock sounds better. But I also wonder if we had lived back then, if that would, like, just be normal. I wouldn't even question it. [00:05:37] Speaker C: Yeah, I think so. Yeah. So I like the way we say it now. Like 6:47. [00:05:41] Speaker D: Yeah. Almost 7 o'. [00:05:42] Speaker C: Clock. [00:05:44] Speaker A: A great day begins with a positive morning. You're on the morning journey with Mark and Brittany. [00:05:51] Speaker C: Oh. If you have not signed up your office yet for Tuesday Tasty treats, you need to do that. The journey will start that after. After our partner invitation. [00:06:00] Speaker D: Yes. Our partner invitation is in two weeks. And then right after that, that Tuesday, we'll be delivering tasty treats from Sweet Indulgence Bakery. So all you have to do is go to myjourney fm.com, click on Tuesday's tasty treats, sign up your office, and we might be delivering treats. [00:06:14] Speaker A: Some great music. The Morning journey with Mark and Brittany. [00:06:18] Speaker C: Have you ever had those times when you've doubted God's provision? Or maybe his ability to help you get through a situation? Maybe it's just like a moment of doubt. Journey artist Leanna Crawford shares some great reminders about God's faithfulness in her post on the Journey Hope blog. [00:06:33] Speaker D: Yeah, it's called Truth I'm Standing On. You can get to [email protected] just click on the link for the Hope blog and then click on Encouraging Words. You'll see not only a Hope blog from her for this month, but the truth Megan Woods Last month there's several Journey artists who have done our Hope Blog. And so if you're in need of some encouragement today, check that [email protected] your. [00:06:55] Speaker A: Day starts with encouragement. The Morning Journey with Mark and Brittany. [00:06:59] Speaker C: Students at Texas A and M University no longer have to drive, maybe for hours, to find their favorite Buc ee's snacks and their merchandise because Buc ee's is now on the campus of Texas A and M University. I think this is a great idea. [00:07:15] Speaker D: I love this, I guess. I mean, those little whatever the nut things I got from Buc Ees and I went, they weren't so bad. But I, I don't think we need buc EE's anywhere else. [00:07:26] Speaker C: I think this is good now. They didn't, they didn't say if this will expand past Texas A and M University. So apparently the founder of Buc EE's is a. Is a graduate of Texas A and M University. So that's the partnership there. But the students have access to like 45 Buc EE's items. I think. [00:07:45] Speaker D: I just don't. [00:07:46] Speaker C: I think it's great. I hope they, I hope they do expand to other college campuses. [00:07:50] Speaker D: I hope they do not. [00:07:51] Speaker C: Yeah, I think the. I think the students would love it. [00:07:53] Speaker D: To be fair, I, I just have. [00:07:56] Speaker C: That in like a student commons area. [00:07:57] Speaker D: I don't know. Yeah, I don't know how I feel about this. I just think it's. It's like the elevated Walmart. Like people buy, like. [00:08:04] Speaker C: But people love it. [00:08:05] Speaker D: Buc EE's items that go out of their way to go to BUC EE's. I don't get it. [00:08:09] Speaker C: I would go out of my way to go to a Bucky's. [00:08:11] Speaker D: I know you would. I just. I don't get it. But I guess congrats to Texas A and M. Like, woohoo. [00:08:17] Speaker A: Thanks for catching up on the morning Journey Rewind podcast with Mark and Brittany. [00:08:23] Speaker C: So some time ago we got into this conversation about the phrase the other day. Like, what constitutes the other day? Is that a few days? Is that last week? [00:08:33] Speaker D: I feel like it's like a couple days, maybe a week. But you could just say a week ago. But I mean, timeframe is loose here. And so Ivy wrote us and she said her and her daughter were talking about this and she thinks the amount of time determined by the other day should be based on whether the person remembers, like, the general timeframe of the event. So she said if she frequents, like, the mall, for example, and sees someone there, but can't remember whether it was two weeks ago or two months ago, she'll use the other day for that. [00:09:01] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:09:01] Speaker D: Which makes sense. I was like, that makes sense. She said she's also very forgetful, so she's hoping that no one follows up with, like, the specific date she saw that person. But I like this. She added that a little while ago also works now. [00:09:14] Speaker C: I like that because that covers, like, everything. That could be a few days, that could be last month, maybe even last year. [00:09:20] Speaker D: Like, oh, I saw them a little while ago, and that could be a year ago. [00:09:24] Speaker C: I mean, that one looks like Ivy's onto something. [00:09:26] Speaker D: That one fits a little more than, like, the other day. If you say the other day and you're talking two years ago, that is the wrong use of that term. [00:09:33] Speaker A: It's the morning journey with Mark and Brittany. [00:09:36] Speaker C: So this week we told you that Brittany's daughter Stella started school. She's also now playing soccer. [00:09:42] Speaker D: Yep. So she started soccer last week and then started school this week. So it's a lot of firsts for us and the soccer. So it's on Saturday mornings and it's only an hour total. And they practice for the first 30 minutes, and then they have, like, a little game the second 30 minutes. Now this is like, three and four year olds. They don't really know much of what they're doing. It's kind of just organized chaos running around. Our teacher's so great. And during practice, like, her coach had them do a little, like, red light, green light game where they practice dribbling, like, fast and slow and stopping the ball. And then they all got a chance to, like, run the ladder and kick the ball and the goal and all this stuff. So she was loving the practice portion. Well, you know when a game starts, you only have one soccer ball. [00:10:22] Speaker C: Yes. [00:10:23] Speaker D: Not all the kids get a ball. She was very confused by this concept, so she started pouting and crying. [00:10:30] Speaker C: Oh, didn't like that. [00:10:31] Speaker D: She ran over to us and said, mom, why are they taking the ball away from me? She did get to do a throw in, which was cool. Okay, so that was fun. But yeah. And when she tries to go get the ball from the other kids, she tries to reach down and grab it with her hands. So I think we have a smashed finger in our future. But I'm hoping as the weeks go on, she starts to get the concept she'll get better. Yeah, I hope so. [00:10:55] Speaker A: Thanks for catching up on the morning Journey Rewind podcast with Mark and Brittany. [00:10:59] Speaker C: You went walking through a swamp? [00:11:02] Speaker D: Well, kind of. So. I am so itchy this morning. I've been actually since Monday. The power of bug spray. We stopped at First Landing State park to do like a little hike. [00:11:13] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:11:13] Speaker D: And it's cool because you get to go through these trails, through the woods, and then you come out and you see the marshlands and everything and they sell in the little like visitor center. Bug spray. [00:11:23] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:11:23] Speaker D: Did I buy bug spray? Did I use bug spray? [00:11:27] Speaker C: You did not. [00:11:28] Speaker D: I did not. Didn't even think twice about it. I was like, ah, it's like a nice day. It's not too hot. We'll be fine. My husband and I are 8 up with bug bites. Like, I am so itchy I can't. [00:11:41] Speaker C: Even like, did you notice it like as soon as you were done? [00:11:44] Speaker D: This was the one time that I noticed it as it was happening. The mosquitoes there, like you could feel them bite you. And so hopefully I don't have West Nile or any other mosquito borne diseases, but if you see me scratching, that's. [00:11:57] Speaker A: Why you're on the morning journey with Mark and Brittany. [00:12:01] Speaker C: A compliment can brighten someone's day, maybe even totally change somebody's day. And a nine year old boy is putting that to practice with his compliment stand. [00:12:11] Speaker D: I love this. Ethan had the idea he was reading a comic book and in the story there was an insult stand. And Ethan knew the insults were not nice, but he got inspired and he said, what if I open up a compliment stand? And so people have driven over an hour to see Ethan and get a compliment from him. And he did say, you know, sometimes it's a struggle because he doesn't know people on a way to like, personally compliment, like their personality or anything. So a lot of it is like their appearance or what they're wearing. So the guy doing the story, he's like, what about me? What's my compliment? He's like, I like your shoes, but it's just a great way to think about how a kind word really does go such a long way. [00:12:51] Speaker C: Yeah. He pulls out his little stand every single day and sits at the end of his driveway and people come by looking for the compliment. [00:12:59] Speaker D: I love it. Such a good way to spread positivity. [00:13:02] Speaker A: Helping to get your day. The morning journey with Mark and Brittany.
