[00:00:00] Speaker A: This is the Morning Journey Rewind with Mark and Brittany. Never miss a moment. [00:00:04] Speaker B: This week on the Morning Journey Rewind, Brittany moves and rips up her bracket. Her and Mark invite you to win the opportunity to stream I can only imagine two rock out to the new veggietales anthem and map the app. Let them know where you're listening. Also, aluminum foil shiny side up or down. And if you are single, would you try a new way to find a date via a PowerPoint presentation? [00:00:27] Speaker C: Well, Brittany is all moved in to her new house, and now it's just getting used to the new house. [00:00:32] Speaker D: Right. Everything is different. I'm trying to find places for things. I have more drawers than I do cabinets now. And so just like, I know it seems silly, but it's like I have more space, but I don't know how to use it yet. And our pantry is one of those things where it's a little different. [00:00:48] Speaker C: You showed me the video that you took of it. [00:00:50] Speaker D: It looks like a pantry, like a long cabinet pantry that you open the cabinets, and it would be a pantry, but you open it, and then there's these two, like, door things inside that are very narrow, like shelving that spins. [00:01:03] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:01:03] Speaker D: And then there's shelves on the back. And so it's like, almost. I don't know. [00:01:07] Speaker C: It's like a hidden room. [00:01:08] Speaker D: It is. And, like, your food's hidden. And so it's like, if you can't find something, spin it around a couple times and maybe you'll find it. And then, like, the shelves aren't very wide either. So, like, I mean, a loaf of bread barely fits on a shelf. So where am I gonna put all my stuff? Tortillas has been my biggest conundrum. I'm like, I have nowhere to put tortillas. [00:01:25] Speaker C: It is a different pantry. But I kind of like it because of the. You can. The. The shelves, they rotate, and then there's a whole nother set of shelves back there. [00:01:34] Speaker D: Yeah. I'm gonna have to get used to it. I think eventually I will like it, especially if, like, we designate a shelf for my husband, for me, for Stella, and for the baby. Like, then everybody will have, like, their own, like, rotating shelf. [00:01:45] Speaker C: No. So I think in the back there, you could. It's a hidden. It's a hidden. It's a hidden room. You can. That's where you hide all your money. [00:01:51] Speaker D: Oh, yeah. Well, now you told everybody. I gotta go move it. [00:01:55] Speaker A: Good company makes for a great day. The morning journey with Mark and Brittany. [00:02:00] Speaker C: That sound you hear is Brittany ripping up her college basketball bracket. She was out yesterday. Now, the excuse was that it was because she was moving, but I think the real reason is because she was in mourning over Duke's loss. There's her. There's her bracket now in pieces. [00:02:21] Speaker D: I mean, look, look. We lost UNC earlier in the year after blowing a 19 point lead with 0.4 seconds. And then we missed our trip to the final four after blowing a 19 point lead to Yukon in 0.4 seconds. [00:02:37] Speaker C: Yes. [00:02:38] Speaker D: Why did we not hold the ball and get fouled? [00:02:41] Speaker C: A lot of people are asking that question. [00:02:43] Speaker D: No idea. I have tried to avoid the Internet the last few days because that has been the only highlight I have seen. It's heartbreaking for one for two. I mean, you got to give the UConn guy credit for being what a shot with it in the moment, shooting it almost half court. [00:02:59] Speaker C: What a great shot and making it. What an amazing shot. [00:03:02] Speaker D: But I'm devastated. My bracket's done. Kate had Duke winning, so she's done. [00:03:08] Speaker C: Yeah, Kate's doing really well. So she's leading, by the way, the [00:03:11] Speaker D: Journey bracket, but she's not going to win. I think you're going to win because you're the only one with your final person still in it. [00:03:17] Speaker C: Arizona. [00:03:18] Speaker D: Deborah and Casey had Florida. [00:03:19] Speaker C: Yeah. Deborah's out. She's. She's been out for a while. [00:03:22] Speaker D: And so I think that Mark's gonna win again. I've never won our bracket. [00:03:26] Speaker C: You know how many if that happens? You know how many that would be? [00:03:29] Speaker D: What is that, like four or five for you? Four. Four for you In a row, I'm gonna stop playing with you. In a row, I'm take my ball and go home. [00:03:36] Speaker C: So let's go. Let's go. [00:03:37] Speaker A: Arizona, start on a positive note. You're on the morning journey with Mark and Brittany. [00:03:45] Speaker C: Hey. The Journey is giving you an opportunity to stream I Can Only Imagine two. This is the movie that continues the story of Journey artist Mercy Me. [00:03:54] Speaker D: Yeah, it's called I can Only Imagine two. But it really follows the story of even if and how that song kind of came about. And so if you were lucky enough to see it in theaters, yay. But if not, we all like to sit at home in our comfy pajamas and watch stuff on streaming. And so now you have an opportunity via the Journey to win codes to stream it at your house. So all you have to do is go to myjourneyfm.com, click on the link and get signed up, and you might win those codes and Then you can watch it at your leisure at home. I turn y' all on in the morning when I get in my truck. It's helpful when I'm taking the kids to school. Here we go. [00:04:25] Speaker A: It's the Morning Journey with mark and Brittany. [00:04:28] Speaker C: Veggietales began back in 1993, and it became such a hit. I know, with obviously children, but it was teenagers. It was adults, and people loved the theme song. [00:04:42] Speaker D: Yeah, I remember watching it as a kid. I loved it growing up. And if you've ever listened to it, like, you can, like, you can remember the theme song like it was yesterday. But the fun thing about AI is that now people are taking songs and, like, just changing kind of the style that they're in. So they're taking, like, country songs and making them, like, hard rock songs, and they're taking, like, folk songs and making them, like ballads or jazz. Yeah. And so this one I think I really like. If you are a fan of VeggieTales, I think you'll like this one too. Someone took the VeggieTales song and. And made it a hard rock song. So here is what the theme song of VeggieTales would sound like if it was turned into a hard rock ballad. [00:05:24] Speaker C: If you like to talk to tomatoes if a squash can make you smile if you like to waltz with potatoes up and down the produce it gets better. Have we show for you [00:05:51] Speaker D: veggie. [00:06:00] Speaker C: Tail [00:06:03] Speaker D: like, who knew you could like headbang to Veggie Tales? So now you know. [00:06:07] Speaker C: They turn Veggie Tales into a rock anthem. [00:06:09] Speaker D: I love it. [00:06:12] Speaker A: Start on a positive note. You're on the Morning Journey with Mark and Britney. [00:06:17] Speaker C: Hey, if you have used the My Journey FM app on vacation, maybe you use it every day. Let us know. We are virtually pinning all the locations where the app has been used. [00:06:28] Speaker D: Yeah, we're calling it Map the App. And so Jarrett wrote in. He lives in Indianapolis, Indiana. He said, my son and I recently listened to the app for almost our entire trip from Indiana all the way to the Outer Banks and back. Pretty cool. [00:06:41] Speaker C: How about that? Yeah. We've heard from people in Nova Scotia, Texas, Washington state, and California. So those locations are all pinned on the My Journey FM app, and you can find that on our Facebook page. If you check out the Journey Facebook page, you'll see our Pin the app map there. If you use the My Journey FM app, let us know, tell us what city, state, even country, where you've used the app. It doesn't have to be only where you live. If You've used the app maybe while traveling or on vacation or. We would love to know. [00:07:13] Speaker D: Yeah. All you have to do is go to MyJourney FM on Facebook, like our page, find that post, it's pinned to the top, tell us where you're listening from, and we will add a pin to your location. It's like a little fun competition. And if you don't have the app, you can get it absolutely free in your app store, my Journey FM there. And then if you do and you listen to it all the time, please share it with a friend. It's a great way to send someone a little bit of encouragement today. [00:07:36] Speaker A: Uplifting and encouraging because you need it now more than ever. [00:07:40] Speaker C: You betcha. [00:07:41] Speaker A: The morning journey with Mark and Brittany. [00:07:43] Speaker C: All right, we're going to settle the big debate. Aluminum foil. [00:07:48] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:07:48] Speaker C: Shiny side or dull side up? [00:07:52] Speaker D: Wait a minute. Shiny side or dull side? Isn't the whole thing shiny? [00:07:57] Speaker C: No. [00:07:57] Speaker D: There's a separate side. [00:07:59] Speaker C: Yes. There's a shiny side to aluminum foil. [00:08:02] Speaker D: Okay. [00:08:02] Speaker C: Yeah. And then there's a side that's a little duller. [00:08:04] Speaker D: I mean, what are we talking about for cooking? For making hats on our heads. For what? [00:08:09] Speaker C: Yeah, for wrapping. Well, let's say cooking. [00:08:11] Speaker D: Okay. I mean, I don't know. Does it make a difference? I didn't even know there was a difference. [00:08:16] Speaker C: Some people say that you should. You should that if the shiny side will convey more heat. Okay, well, people say that. [00:08:25] Speaker D: I did use. We had a science experiment when I was in high school where we had to, like, create a contraption that would, like, cook a hot dog, and I used, like, a shoebox and aluminum foil for that because, like, the sun reflected off the aluminum foil and got it hot. [00:08:37] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:08:37] Speaker D: I can't tell you which side up the aluminum foil was, though. But the hot dog did cook, so [00:08:42] Speaker C: apparently it really does not matter. [00:08:46] Speaker D: Oh, okay. [00:08:46] Speaker C: See, but there is. Apparently there's been. There are people that think, oh, no, the shiny side. [00:08:51] Speaker D: Is it made on purpose that way to have two sides? [00:08:54] Speaker C: Yeah. So the reason why this happened is that when during the manufacturing, the aluminum is rolled into, like, thin sheets. Okay. [00:09:01] Speaker D: Okay. [00:09:02] Speaker C: And they use these large rollers, and to prevent tearing, two layers are pressed together simultaneously. So the side that touches the rollers becomes shiny. [00:09:13] Speaker D: Oh, interesting. Yeah, I guess that makes sense. [00:09:16] Speaker C: So that's how it really happens. But apparently it really doesn't. For cooking, it does not matter. So you can go ahead and get on with the grilling and not worry about it. [00:09:24] Speaker D: I'm gonna have to go home and flip My aluminum foil over and see the difference. I just kind of channel surfing through the radio. [00:09:31] Speaker A: Families are catching on and I'm like, [00:09:33] Speaker D: wow, this is pretty cool. [00:09:34] Speaker A: To the best way. [00:09:34] Speaker D: So now this is the only thing I listen to now to wake up. My style of everything has started to change. [00:09:39] Speaker A: It's the Morning Journey with Mark and Brittany. [00:09:42] Speaker C: Well, a lot of people found success on dating apps, but today's singles are trying something different. PowerPoint presentations. [00:09:50] Speaker D: I love this idea. Yeah. Like, local coffee shops are having friends come out and they're posting these PowerPoint like it's, it's really like a school presentation. Like they're having their friends go up there and present them to a crowd of singles and say, why should you date my friend Zach? These are the reasons. And like there's different PowerPoint slides. [00:10:08] Speaker C: Yeah. At one of the locations they had 150 tickets for the event. Wow. It sold out in less than five minutes. [00:10:16] Speaker D: It's such a good idea too, because I think on dating apps a lot of times people can lie about their profiles, but in this kind of environment, it's friends and family standing up and talking about the individual. So you're getting like basically character witnesses here of the people that you might want to potentially date. [00:10:31] Speaker C: Yeah. They showed there's a picture in the story and the crowd there of young people, but they're having a good time. I think what's cool about it is it combines the technology with a social activity. You're actually meeting with people, not doing everything on an app. [00:10:46] Speaker D: Exactly. You're meeting the people. You're in that environment. If you like what you see on the PowerPoint, that person's in the room, you can go talk to them and start your relationship from there. So I like this idea. I hope we see more of this. [00:10:56] Speaker C: We're just going to worship, we're going to be encouraged and we're just going to be together. [00:11:02] Speaker A: That's the idea. You're on the Morning Journey with Mark and Brittany. [00:11:06] Speaker C: One of the ways the Journey encourages you is through our Facebook group. It's called the Journey Prayer Connection. And this gives you an opportunity to share prayer requests and pray for each other. [00:11:16] Speaker D: We would love for you to be a part of this. It's so amazing to watch the Journey family just come alongside each other in prayer. We really are a family here. We mean it when we say that. And so the Prayer Connection is a private Facebook group so that you can post in there and know that your prayer requests are protected and supported by those who believe in Jesus. And who will pray alongside you. If you're a prayer warrior, this group is for you. We also ask that you post your praise reports as well, because we love celebrating what the Lord is doing in our lives as well in that group. And so thank you for being a part of it if you've been a part of it for years. Thank you for sharing your deepest requests with us, and thank you for praying alongside each other as we go through life together. [00:11:52] Speaker A: It's the morning journey with Mark and [00:11:54] Speaker C: Brittany as we head into Easter weekend. This is really encouraging to hear. Across the country, churches are reporting the strongest baptism growth that they have seen in decades. And the increase in baptisms is related to really what's been happening on college campuses the last couple of years. Young people accepting Christ, wanting to worship, wanting to be in church. [00:12:15] Speaker D: I feel like a lot of it is adults now, too. I remember growing up, a lot of kids got baptized. But my church, especially when we do baptisms, there's a few youth group age children and younger and things like that. But a lot of it is adults. And I think a lot of that is I got baptized when I was 8. And so I think a lot of that is, as we grow up, we're like. It's almost like a rededication, a reaffirmation of our faith. And so I think it's really cool to see everybody saying, or maybe you accepted Christ, but you never took that public profession to get baptized and never actually took that next step. And so a lot of adults are like, yeah, I've been saved, but I've never actually been baptized. And so they're getting baptized now. I think that's super cool. [00:12:55] Speaker C: Yeah, it really is. And it's just good to see more and more people realizing that they need that connection with Christ to have that relationship, the importance of that. You're seeing that in young people as they get married and they want to establish that, have that kind of part of their family life. [00:13:13] Speaker D: Yeah, young people these days, especially looking for answers everywhere. And a lot of them coming to Jesus through that because he is the way, the truth, and the life. [00:13:21] Speaker A: A great way to start your day. The morning journey with Mark and Brittany. [00:13:25] Speaker C: Well, a group of kids were recently asked what playtime meant to them. The answers were a little surprising for adults who were thinking, well, cognitive thinking and structure, learning things. The kids said, how the playtime felt to them, who was included, and if there was room to be silly and bend the rules, did it make them laugh, smile, and was imagination part of it? [00:13:50] Speaker D: Yeah, playtime was more about social belonging, being able to create things with your friends and having something meaningful to do, and less about learning things. I feel like as parents, a lot of times I know I stress out and I'm like, oh, is this teaching her anything? And is this helping her grow, like, mentally or physically in any way? But really at this age, it's just about letting her be a kid. Let her do what she wants to do to do. Let her make up things for her stuffed animals and just have fun. [00:14:14] Speaker C: Yeah. I think that's who you always see this with kids, like on Christmas or a birthday and they get a toy, what do they play with? They play with the box because. Imagination. [00:14:25] Speaker D: Yes. It's very fun to watch kids come up with these cool games and unique things on their own when you're not involved and kind of letting them play independently. And I do think a lot of it, too, when it comes to group play is the social inclusion part. As long as everyone's included and no one's trying to derail whatever game, I think it goes well. I think the hard part about playtime comes in when everybody wants to play differently. We're learning this with my daughter Stella. Now, sometimes she'll want me to play with her, and if I move a car away, she doesn't like. She's like, that's not how we do it. And I'm like, everybody plays differently. You have to learn how to play with different styles and play together. So we're learning. But I think the best part of playtime is just letting them be kids. [00:15:07] Speaker C: We're just gonna worship, we're gonna be encouraged, and we're just gonna be together. [00:15:13] Speaker A: That' you're on the morning journey with Mark and Brittany. [00:15:17] Speaker C: I have to admit that I was not familiar with microplastics. I have heard more about microplastics in the past year than I have ever heard in my lifetime. But a Virginia high school student, not only has she heard about microplastics, she is actually working on a solution to solve the problem. [00:15:37] Speaker D: Yeah, this is a pretty cool idea. She's created, like, a magnetic system that, like, pulls out the, like, microplastics from your water, and she made it small enough to fit under a kitchen sink like any type of normal filter, but it doesn't expire. It doesn't go bad. You don't have to replace the filter because it's not something that's manufactured per se. It's magnetic, and so magnets don't expire. So you can use this probably forever. I'm with you, though. The microplastic things has become a whole new thing that we never really thought about. You're not even supposed to drink out of plastic water bottles anymore, I don't think. [00:16:11] Speaker C: Her name is Mia Heller, and she actually, she created the prototype, worked on it in her garage at home. And so the project has earned her recognition at some international science fairs. And. Still working on that. It's in the early stages, but how about that? So it's a filtration system that takes out, what, 96% of the microplastics. [00:16:34] Speaker D: Pretty cool. Yeah. So look for that on your shelves eventually, I guess. I wonder how expensive it's going to be. [00:16:43] Speaker A: Thanks for catching up on the morning Journey Rewind podcast with Mark and Brittany.
