[00:00:00] Speaker A: This is the Morning Journey Rewind with Mark and Brittany. Never miss a moment. [00:00:04] Speaker B: This week on the Morning Journey Rewind. Mark and Brittany congratulate Kate on her March Madness win. There's a new Diary of the Mom Squad out. They encourage you to call someone. Yes. Actually talk to someone on the phone. And with the Artemis II in space, Mark and Brittany share some special messages from the astronauts. [00:00:21] Speaker C: Well, March Madness is over. Michigan won the college basketball national championship last night. That was their first national championship in 37 years. [00:00:31] Speaker D: Yeah. Big congratulations to them. I ripped up my bracket last week, if you were paying attention, because Duke went out and that was my champion, and so there's no reason. I didn't even watch it last night. I haven't watched basketball since. I was just. I was done, and I ended up fourth out of five in our work league. Yes, you did. So. [00:00:47] Speaker E: Yeah. [00:00:47] Speaker D: But you didn't win this year. [00:00:49] Speaker C: No. So my. No. So my. My. Three Pete stops at three. [00:00:53] Speaker D: It does. Yes. [00:00:54] Speaker C: There will be no. No four Pete. [00:00:55] Speaker D: Kate from midday is actually taking home the trophy this year, so good job to Kate. [00:01:00] Speaker C: Trophy was ordered this morning. [00:01:02] Speaker D: Yeah, we should actually get one, actually. [00:01:03] Speaker C: We will. [00:01:04] Speaker D: Oh, okay. Look at that. [00:01:08] Speaker A: Good company. Makes for a great day. The Morning Journey with Mark and Brittany. [00:01:13] Speaker C: One of the the podcasts that the Journey offers for you is called Diary of the Mom Squad, hosted by Brittany and Kate. They do a great job with that. I am not the target demographic for A Diary of the Mom Squad, but [00:01:27] Speaker D: I bet you'll be listening to this one. [00:01:28] Speaker C: I will be this one because it has my niece is the guest on there and she's talking about her adoption journey. [00:01:35] Speaker D: Yeah. It was so great to get to talk to Olivia and she talks about how they went through the whole adoption process and ended up with two beautiful babies. I didn't realize how close together they were. They're only like five months apart. Five or nine months apart. She said they're basically like having twins. And so if you are thinking about adoption, considering it, just wondering what that looks like. This is a great podcast for you. Me and Kate had a great time talking to Mark's niece and is available now Wherever you get your podcast, all you have to search is Diary of the Mom Squad and you can listen to it at your leisure or you can go to myjourney fm.com and get to it from there. [00:02:07] Speaker A: Start on a positive note. You're on the Morning Journey with Mark and Brittany. [00:02:13] Speaker C: Well, we have a challenge for you today, and that is to call someone. We use our phones for so much more than really calling people. We text, we stream content, we, we email, we browse the web. But not a lot of actual calling going on. [00:02:28] Speaker D: Most of the time now when people's phones ring, they're like, I'm not answering that. Even if they know the number, they're [00:02:32] Speaker C: just like, that is true. [00:02:33] Speaker D: Nah, I'll just send a text. So today we're challenging you reach out to that friend who's been on your mind. Maybe it's a family member. Give them an actual call, like phone call. Pick up the phone, dial their number, speak to them on the phone. You never know what they're going through and they might just need to hear a friendly voice. So today is the day. Make that phone call. You call us too if you're looking for somebody to call. 800-424-9594. We always like chatting with you in the morning. So, yeah, if you would take that challenge today, let us know how it goes. [00:03:03] Speaker E: I turn y' all on in the morning when I get in my truck. It's helpful when I'm taking the kids to school. [00:03:08] Speaker D: Here we go. [00:03:09] Speaker A: It's the morning journey with Mark and [00:03:11] Speaker C: Brittany Mandisa and Toby Mack. Good morning, Mark and Brittany with you. That is the song that woke up the Artemis 2 crew on day number six of their trip around. [00:03:23] Speaker D: Pretty cool to wake up to that song. It was such a cool message because they played that song and then they had a really special message from Jim Lovell who was the pilot of the Apollo 8 mission and he had a little message for him. And the sad thing is Jim actually passed away in August, so he recorded this message for them beforehand. [00:03:40] Speaker F: Hello, this is Apollo astronaut Jim Lovell. Welcome to my old neighborhood. When Frank Borman and Bill Anders and I over to the moon on Apollo 8, we got humanity's first up close look at the moon and got a view of the home planet that inspired and united people around the world. I'm proud to pass that torch on to you as you swing around the moon and lay the groundwork for missions to Mars for the benefit of all. It's a historic day and I know how busy you'll be, but don't forget to enjoy the view. So Reed and Victor and Christina and Jeremy and all the great teams are boarding you. Good luck and Godspeed to all of us here on the good earth. [00:04:28] Speaker D: Good old Jim telling them to take time to enjoy the view. What a good reminder too, because you're thinking you're in space. But they got a lot to do as Astronauts while they're on that ship. [00:04:37] Speaker C: Yeah, they do. Some of the pictures that they're already sending back are fantastic. You've not had a chance to take a look at those. Check those out. But I think so many people this week have just been kind of captured by the whole idea of what NASA is doing. Spaceflight. [00:04:52] Speaker D: Yeah, I think it's fantastic. This is a historical mission, too. Further away from Earth than any astronaut has ever been. So these four, making history and hearing from a legend himself, Jim Lovell in the process and from Toby Mack and Mandisa. Pretty cool. [00:05:08] Speaker C: Artemis 2 is scheduled to return to Earth tomorrow night. The pilot, Victor Glover, shared a great message from. [00:05:16] Speaker D: Yeah, you probably heard his Easter message. Just talking about creation and seeing the world from that point of view and what that means. But he also shared a message about love. And it's just cool to see a Christian on board and just their perspective from being up in space and what that means to them. [00:05:31] Speaker E: Thank you to all of you for allowing us the immense privilege to be on this journey together. It's quite amazing. And as we go on this journey thinking about the NASA mission, to explore the unknown in air and space, to innovate for the benefit of humanity and to inspire the world through discovery. And as you've gone along on this journey with us, hopefully we're doing just those things. And as we get close to the nearest point to the moon and farthest point from Earth, as we continue to unlock the mysteries of the cosmos, I would like to remind you of one of the most important mysteries there on Earth, and that's love. Christ said in response to what was the greatest command that it was to love God with all that you are. And he also, being a great teacher, said the second is equal to it, and that is to love your neighbor as yourself. And so as we prepare to go out of radio communication, we're still able to feel your love from Earth and to all of you down there on Earth and around Earth, we love you from the moon. [00:06:49] Speaker D: We love you from the moon. Absolutely love that. That was a few days ago, right before they reached that furthest point. They dropped out of radio communication there for a little bit and then they came back on. But yeah, just prayers for them for their safe return tomorrow. Pretty cool. Making history as the the first humans to venture as far away from Earth as possible. Getting a real nice look at that far side of the moon. [00:07:11] Speaker A: Start on a positive note. You're on the morning journey with Mark and Brittany. [00:07:16] Speaker C: Well, the journey has something for you in Case maybe today you're going through something and need prayer. It's called the Journey Prayer Connection. You can join this and we do this so that you can share prayer requests and pray for each other. [00:07:28] Speaker D: Yeah, we really are family here at the Journey. We say it all the time. And the Journey Prayer Connection is a great example of that. Just search it on Facebook. Request to be a part of the group. It's private so that it's just amongst the family. We pray for each other. We celebrate God's provision as well. So post your praise reports. But we would love for you to join the Journey Prayer Connection. That's a Facebook group. So just go to Facebook and search Journey Prayer Connection. [00:07:51] Speaker F: I just kind of channel surfing through the radio. [00:07:54] Speaker A: Families are catching on and I'm like, [00:07:56] Speaker F: wow, this is pretty cool. [00:07:57] Speaker A: To the best way. [00:07:57] Speaker F: But now this is the only thing [00:07:58] Speaker D: I listen to now to wake up. My style of everything has started and changed. [00:08:02] Speaker A: It's the Morning Journey with Mark and Brittany. [00:08:05] Speaker C: Well, last week on our Facebook page, we were giving you an opportunity to have a movie night to stream the movie I can Only Imagine two. And we have some winners. [00:08:15] Speaker D: We do. Big congratulations to Brittany, Tracy, Robert and Bobby Jo on winning those streaming codes. You will be able to enjoy a movie night on us for I can only imagine too. At your own house, at your own convenience. We'll be sending you an email about how to get those codes and how to download them. So congratulations. Thank you for listening and for filling out that form. [00:08:36] Speaker A: Uplifting and encouraging because you need it now more than ever. [00:08:41] Speaker E: You betcha. [00:08:42] Speaker A: The Morning Journey with Mark and Brittany. [00:08:44] Speaker C: Well, there's been a lot of information out there how screen time affects our sleep. I am really guilty of this. I can be tired when I go to bed and then I'll lay there for a few minutes and look at the screen often. What happens, though, is suddenly I'm not tired. [00:09:00] Speaker D: So my husband has this problem. He'll wake up in the middle of the night and he'll start scrolling on his phone. And I keep telling him if you just put the phone down and try to lay there for 15, 30 minutes, you'll probably fall back asleep a lot faster. And it's true, because if you put your phone down about 30 minutes before bed or if you don't pick it up in the middle of the night, the blue light actually emits some, I don't know, some rays or whatever into your eyes that suppress melatonin, which is the hormone that it helps your body go to sleep. So scientifically, Proven that your phone is deterring you from falling asleep at night. So I don't know, maybe you need to put it, like, not by your nightstand, like, across the room or something. And then that way, even when the alarm goes off, you still have to get up and go get it, which helps you get out of bed. [00:09:42] Speaker C: Well, so I have seen that where people say, you know, it should be, like, 10ft away from you, your phone, and then you. That makes you usually not get out of bed and go get it, unless it's like, an emergency or something like that. My sister turns her phone completely off. [00:09:57] Speaker D: Oh, wow. [00:09:59] Speaker E: Off. [00:09:59] Speaker D: That's. That's. [00:10:00] Speaker C: You will not get a hold of her. [00:10:01] Speaker D: Because I need an alarm to get up. So I do use my phone for an alarm, but, like, putting it across the room. Well, like, if the alarm goes off when it's time to get up, you got to get up and go get it. So I think that's maybe the solution here is don't scroll on your phone in the middle of the night. It makes you anxious. [00:10:16] Speaker B: We're just going to worship. We're going to be encouraged, and we're just going to be together. [00:10:22] Speaker A: That's the idea. You're on the Morning Journey with Mark and Brittany. [00:10:26] Speaker C: Brittany is celebrating a little bit this morning because all of the boxes in their new home have been unpacked. [00:10:33] Speaker D: Yep. Everything is unpacked. Other than, like, ordering some furniture and organizing things a little bit differently, we are pretty much settled in. [00:10:39] Speaker C: So you worked on this, I. I would imagine all weekend. [00:10:42] Speaker D: All weekend. Especially yesterday. I went through. We have an unfinished side to our basement that has built in storage. And so I went through, like, and organized all of our boxes and everything that was down there and. And finally got everything on the shelves. And so I feel accomplished. And now I can finally enjoy my new home instead of stressing about it, I think. [00:10:59] Speaker C: So that is, like, a real feeling of accomplishment. I know when I was a kid, I think I mentioned this, we moved a lot. And so my mom had, like, moving just down to, like, a. A schedule, and she had a system. But when everything was done, I know she was always relieved. [00:11:13] Speaker D: Yes. You just take a sigh of relief and just take a deep breath and actually enjoy your home. [00:11:17] Speaker A: It's the Morning Journey with Mark and Brittany. [00:11:20] Speaker C: Well, if you use the My Journey FM app, we would love to know that where you listen to and you've got an opportunity, you can pin the app on the Journey Facebook page. [00:11:31] Speaker D: Yeah, it's just like when you go on vacation and you See a map out, and they're like, pin where you're from, and you get to stick a little pin there and say, I'm from, like, thousands of miles away. Well, if you're listening thousands of miles away, we would like to know. All you have to do is go to MyJourney FM on Facebook, tell us where you're listening from, and we will add a pin to the map in that location. And then if you don't have the app, you can download it for free. MindJourney Journey FM on your Apple or Android device and share it with a friend as well. It's a great way to share life, hope, and music and the encouragement of Jesus with someone who needs it today. [00:12:01] Speaker A: A great way to start your day. The morning journey with Mark and Brittany. [00:12:05] Speaker C: Well, when you go up to a vending machine, you're usually looking for a soft drink or some type of snack. But in Michigan, someone has taken a very different approach. It's called the kindness vending machine. [00:12:16] Speaker D: This is such a cool idea. So Andrea, she decided that she was gonna take an old vending machine and still make it, like, work and disp things. But instead of dispensing candy or soda, it dispenses these little envelopes that are filled with kindness challenges. So if you're looking for something to do, you can go up there, you can pick, like, a 4, and it will vend you an envelope filled with something to do, some act of kindness for someone else. [00:12:42] Speaker C: And people love it. It's become very popular throughout Michigan. They've taken the vending machine, set it up on a sidewalk somewhere. They've taken it to, like, carnivals and fairs and so forth, and people go up to it, and they love it. And the whole idea is to create random acts of kindness, and then that creates a ripple effect. [00:13:01] Speaker D: This is such a great idea. I think we need these on, like, every street corner in every town, because people could always be more kind. And it definitely brings the community together as well, because if you're doing stuff for your neighbor and they're pulling out their kindness packet and doing something for you as well, it just really creates that sense of love and community. And so I love this idea. Way to go, Andrea. I mean, I don't know how hard it is to refun, like, manufacture a vending machine, but maybe we should find out. Make, like a journey vending machine. Put it outside the office. [00:13:32] Speaker B: We're just gonna worship, we're gonna be encouraged, and we're just gonna be together. [00:13:37] Speaker A: That's the idea. You're on the Morning Journey with Mark [00:13:41] Speaker C: and Brittany, our listener sent us this email. We thought this was great. His daughter decided to do something to spread a little hope and kindness. [00:13:50] Speaker D: Yeah, she's 16. She put a Honk if you love Jesus spread kindness sticker on the back window of her dad's car to see what would happen. Now on Saturdays and Sundays, he said he gets a lot of honks, waves. It's kind of refreshing to see that happening. Then he said, between Monday and Friday, though, no honks, no waves, no smiles, nothing. He said, doesn't anyone show love to Jesus on the weekday? [00:14:12] Speaker C: We got to work on our weekday kindness. [00:14:15] Speaker D: We really do. I mean, I guess I feel like on the weekdays we're so caught up in what's going on in our jobs and our homes and everything that we're not really, like, focusing on the weekends. We're a lot more relaxed and people [00:14:24] Speaker C: just driving, trying to get to work. [00:14:26] Speaker D: We're just trying to get to work. So, yeah, if you see a Honk if youf Love Jesus sticker today, make sure you honk. I always hesitate to put one of those on my car because then I'll be like, why is people honking at me? [00:14:35] Speaker C: Then you have to make sure you respond in kindness, right. [00:14:39] Speaker D: And not like, angrily. So if you have a sticker like that on your car, just remember. And if you want a Journey sticker for your car, you can request one of those as well@myjourney fm.com thanks for [00:14:49] Speaker A: catching up on the Morning Journey Rewind podcast with Mark and Brittany.
