[00:00:00] Speaker A: This is the Morning Journey Rewind with Mark and Brittany. Never miss a moment.
[00:00:05] Speaker B: This week on the Morning Journey Rewind, Brittany tells us if she's having a boy or a girl. Mark and Britney change the banner, and guess what? They have a trumpet player. Also, are you obsessed with the Olympics? Brittany is. And there's a Mercy Me giveaway going
[email protected] in connection with their new movie, I Can Only Imagine two the big Day.
[00:00:26] Speaker C: Brittany and her husband Phil, they find out the gender of child number two.
[00:00:32] Speaker D: Yes.
[00:00:32] Speaker C: Now, we will not know your name until tomorrow. Till tomorrow, probably.
[00:00:35] Speaker D: We're gonna take a video. We'll post the video, so tomorrow we will tell you. But it's funny, because things are getting really serious at my house with my daughter. She has been calling this baby Baby Cornelius since we explained to her that there was a baby in my belly.
[00:00:49] Speaker C: She is convinced it is a boy.
[00:00:51] Speaker D: Yes. She really likes rudolph. And so UConn Cornelius really stuck with her for some reason. If you ask her or try to explain to her, like, what if it's a girl? She gets very mad, and she'll look right at you and say, no, it's a boy. She even told our babysitter. Our babysitter tried to explain this to her when we went out for Valentine's Day. And she's like, but what if it's a girl? And Stella goes, well, I won't like it. And our babysitter was like, but I'm a girl and you like me. And she said, no, I don't. I just like Daddy. So we are on. Like, we're just prepared for a meltdown. Like, you've seen those videos of, like, the little, like, the sibling finding out. They'll be like, I want an apple that's gonna be Stella if it's not a boy. So we will find out today. The cake is on the way. My friend made it. She's delivering it this morning, so by this afternoon, we will know. But, yeah, I just. Just pray for Stella because she doesn't know what's going on, and she's really, really convinced it's a boy. So we'll see how it goes.
And today is the day we're gonna find out. Well, we found out yesterday, so we do not know.
[00:01:54] Speaker C: For those of you who have been listening for the last few weeks, you know that Brittany and her husband are expecting their second child. But. But we did not know the gender. Brittany, they found out yesterday. And so we have all been anxiously waiting.
[00:02:10] Speaker D: That is my drum roll. It's a boy.
[00:02:13] Speaker C: Hey.
All right.
[00:02:15] Speaker D: Let me tell you, Stella is so excited. She has been thinking it's a boy the whole time calling in a boy. Specifically Cornelius from Rudolph UConn Cornelius. We watched a lot at Christmas time and that's when she found out we were expecting. And so she was so excited yesterday when she.
We asked her beforehand, like, what if it's a girl? And she said, it's not. It's a boy. Very matter of factly, she knew. She did. She did. So, yes, we are expecting a boy. We are struggling with names. So if you have any good boy names, send them my way.
[00:02:45] Speaker A: Good company makes for a great day. The Morning Journey with Mark and Brittany.
[00:02:51] Speaker C: We've been talking about this this morning. We are now on Facebook live because today is the big day. It is the changing of of the banner for Lynchburg Living's best of radio DJs.
[00:03:03] Speaker D: You guys, we are so excited because we've been trying to do this every year that we've won for the last 10 years and it's never happened. And so now, thanks to Alex, we have a trumpet player with us this morning. Alex, thank you so much for being here.
How is being out of school today? How's that been? I'm very glad we were out of school. Yes, I bet.
So can you give us a little bum, bum, bum, bum and show us how it's going to sound?
[00:03:29] Speaker C: Hey, there we go.
[00:03:31] Speaker D: I'm so excited. So just after this break, we're gonna take Alex and we're gonna go into the lobby and we're gonna switch out the banners. Mark's got the hammer, so don't do this at home, kids. Alex will keep you away from the hammer. But yeah, we're gonna switch out the banners. Sometimes it fits exactly and sometimes it doesn't. But we are so excited to have Alex here. Did you get to do anything fun with all the snow that you guys had? Um, I got to go sledding and snowboarding.
[00:03:54] Speaker C: Cool. All right.
[00:03:55] Speaker D: That's fun. Do you watch any snowboarding in the Olympics? Yeah, I watched a little bit. Sweet. Yeah, I've been watching the Olympics like crazy.
[00:04:02] Speaker C: Kind of hard to snowboard on the ice, isn't it?
[00:04:04] Speaker D: Yeah, it's really hard because, like, you don't get really any grip and you slip on. Yeah. So Alex, multi talented, plays the trumpet and snowboards with us this morning.
[00:04:13] Speaker C: Can you do both at the same time? Play the trumpet?
[00:04:15] Speaker D: Oh, okay. Oh, that would be. That would be a talent for sure. So very talented. Alex with us this Morning. We are so excited. We're going to get off the air, but we are still live on Facebook, so make sure you jump on Facebook Live as go into the lobby and change the banner.
[00:04:28] Speaker C: Well, if you joined us on Facebook Live for the official changing of the banner. Thank you. Glad that you were with us. And again, thanks to Alex and his mom for coming in and playing the trumpet for us.
[00:04:40] Speaker D: Yeah, all the way from Pinhook. Thank you to Trish for bringing Alex in for us. We've been trying to do this for years. And so we finally got our trumpet player and for the first time, I think, ever, also, the nail holes lined up. So Mark didn't even have to use the heavy equipment. We did not have to bust the hammer out. We had it on hand just in case. But yeah, if you missed it, make sure you check out our Facebook Live. It's on our Facebook page. MyJourney FM. Big thank you again to Alex. We had so much fun this morning. And the banner is up. Lynchburg Living. Best of best radio DJs again this year. Thank you so, so much for voting.
[00:05:11] Speaker C: We're just gonna worship, we're gonna be
[00:05:13] Speaker D: encouraged, and we're just gonna be together.
[00:05:16] Speaker A: That's the idea. You're on the morning journey with Mark and Brittany.
[00:05:20] Speaker C: It was a busy weekend. We had the Night to Shine event on Friday. Then you had Valentine's Day and the Olympics going on as well.
[00:05:28] Speaker D: Oh, my goodness. And so many birthday parties for my daughter. She had two birthday parties this weekend on top of all that. So Valentine's Day was Saturday.
And my husband gave me what I love because I love the Olympics. And so he gave me two shirts. The one I'm wearing today that says it's red and it says Team USA Milano and Cordina. And then he gave me, like a dry fit shirt that's actual Olympic gear. It says, like, USA Team. And on the back it says, like, official gear of the Olympics. So now I have two shirts I'm gonna wear back and forth probably the rest of the week because the Olympics, they're so short and jokes me because I'm so obsessed with them. Because I will come home and literally watch them all day long. Wow. And then I will fast forward through prime time just in case I might have missed something that I wanted to see.
So it's a problem.
[00:06:12] Speaker C: I like the Olympics. I'll watch a little bit of. I watch more summer Olympics than I do winter. I love the downhill. And then I'll watch the hockey, depending on how they're doing. A lot of the other winter events, I'm not really into those.
[00:06:25] Speaker D: Well, you're less likely. I watch the highlights to be disappointed if you watch those two, because we're pretty good at those two. But yeah, we are more of summer Olympic country, that's for sure. But it's still very exciting to watch. And it's always heartbreaking to see somebody train for four years and then not even make it out of the qualifying in their event to be able to even compete for a medal. But it's been so much fun. I'm so excited. We have a whole nother week of watching our athletes compete. And so now I have two shirts to wear to cheer them on.
[00:06:51] Speaker C: Brittany and I have decided if there is an Olympic sport that we may still have a shot at, it would be curling.
[00:06:58] Speaker D: I do feel bad for the curlers because I watch all the other Olympic sports and I'm like, there's no way I could do that. Absolutely not. Doing that one. And curling, I'm like, I think if I tried, I could probably be pretty good at this.
[00:07:09] Speaker C: Have you seen the videos of people, like in their kitchens? Like they're with their brooms and they're doing like kitchen curling?
[00:07:15] Speaker D: Yes. One with like a lady in a roomba. It was pretty funny.
[00:07:18] Speaker C: Yeah. So we all have that dream. Well, apparently there is one member of the US Curling team that saw that dream become a reality. He's 54 years old, name is Rich, He's a personal injury and he is on the US Curling team.
[00:07:32] Speaker D: That's good to know if I ever make the team, because I probably need him because I'll probably fall and hurt myself trying to do this. But he does a lot for the team. I mean, he's basically like team dad and valuable member of the, of the team.
[00:07:43] Speaker C: Yeah. So he, he makes omelets before important matches, he grills steaks after huge wins. He handles the early morning grocery shopping. He also chauffeurs them around.
[00:07:54] Speaker D: He's definitely a valuable player, that's for sure. Tammy actually wrote in, she said, speaking of curling, we're liberty grads, missionaries and self proclaimed competitors in the old geezer Winter Olympics. She said, we learned respect for the sport as we served with ministry in Korea for 30 years where they actually excel at curling. I did not know that.
[00:08:13] Speaker C: That's interesting. You know, a lot of people, people will make fun of the sport until they watch it. I was the same. I'm very happy. Like, why is this an Olympic Sport? Until probably 2, 3 Olympics ago, I actually watched it and you get. You do get into the competition.
[00:08:28] Speaker D: It's very strategic. You have to aim very well. You have to be able to, like, sweep. Like, the backs on these people must hurt because not only do you, like, basically lay down to throw the rock, you're also, like, leaning over to sweep, to speed it up, to slow it down, to change its directions. A lot of strategy there. So I really do enjoy watching curling. Have a lot of respect for the game. That is still the one sport I think I could maybe do if I tried, but I would need rich because I would not be able to get back up. I would definitely get injured.
[00:08:56] Speaker A: Start on a positive note. You're on the Morning Journey with Mark and Brittany.
[00:09:01] Speaker C: Well, the Mercy Me movie, I can only Imagine two that is in theaters at the end of the week. Now, last week, we gave you an opportunity to win tickets to see that. This week we have another round of giveaways. Not the movie, but this is the book.
[00:09:17] Speaker D: Yeah. So the movie giveaway is done. We were so excited to be able to send some people to see the I Can Only Imagine two movie. It was so, so good. But now we're giving away their even if book, a new book written by the band. And then there's a new shirt as well. It says God is in the fire and it's beautiful. And so the giveaway is on our

[00:10:22] Speaker A: make you feel like family, you're on the Morning Journey with Mark and Brittany.
[00:10:26] Speaker C: We had an unusual experience this morning. There were two wet vacs in the hallway. One in the hallway, one actually in our conference room. We have no idea but our first thought was, okay, do we have leaks in the ceiling?
[00:10:40] Speaker D: Look, it's a Monday. I walked in this morning. I was like, what is that noise? And so I came in here, did some stuff in the studio, and started to walk down the hallway, and I was like, oh, there's a giant wet vac in the hallway. Okay. And, like, the carpet, like, I stepped on it didn't seem wet. It looked up. There was no, like, dripping from the ceiling. So then I unplug it, and I'm like, okay, I still hear noise. What is that noise? So I walk around to our little conference room, and there's another, bigger one in the conference room. And I'm like, again, I don't see any liquid, don't see any wet spots. So I unplugged that one because I gotta be able to hear. I couldn't hear anything.
[00:11:15] Speaker C: So when I came in then. So Brittany was the first one I came in. This is always funny to me because the first person comes in and, okay, what is this? And they kind of deal with it. The second person that comes in always says to the first person, why are there wet vacs? And they'd be like, as if you brought them in.
[00:11:31] Speaker D: As if I brought them in. I have no idea why they were there. And we still don't know. So I guess maybe we'll find out later today. We'll keep you posted.
[00:11:41] Speaker A: Start on a positive note. You're on the morning journey with Mark and Brittany.
[00:11:46] Speaker C: Well, we encourage you to get signed up for the Journey music crew. Not only help us pick the songs that we play, but also it was an opportunity for you to see Steven Curtis Chapman in Roanoke later this month.

[00:12:29] Speaker A: It's the morning journey with Mark and Brittany.
[00:12:32] Speaker C: Good to have you with us. We had a really nice comment from Jen. Jen is the winner of our Valentine's giveaway. We did that last week, and she was our grand prize. Winner.
[00:12:42] Speaker D: Yes. She came by to pick up her prize and she brought her daughter and her daughter got some Skittles from us as well. But she said, thank you so much. We appreciate you guys so much. We're enjoying the beautiful flowers. My husband and I are so looking forward to our date night at the Fleming Mountain Grill. We love your station, especially that we can turn on the radio and know our girls are listening to the positive, truth filled and uplifting music. Needless to say, the Skittles are almost gone, but my daughter Madeline keeps saying, I'm a part of the journey now.
[00:13:09] Speaker C: How about that?
[00:13:09] Speaker D: Love that.
[00:13:10] Speaker C: Love it. Yeah.
[00:13:11] Speaker D: Being a part of the family. Thanks, Jen.
[00:13:13] Speaker A: Your day starts with encouragement. The morning journey with Mark and Brittany,
[00:13:17] Speaker C: a content creator out of Virginia, has made a significant impact.
She has erased $80,000 in overdue school lunch debt for kids that could not afford to pay for those lunches. She's raised like $200,000 in the process.
[00:13:36] Speaker D: It started out small. She just called a local school district and said, how much would it take to wipe out your kids student like debt for lunches? And those lunch debts, they affect more than just the student's ability to eat. They can affect them going on field trips. They can even affect them graduating if they have outstanding debt. And so by doing this, she's really not only provided food for the children, but also allowed them to just be kids, enjoy their field trips, graduate on time. And with the help of the community, she's raised, like you said, $80,000, more than 200,000 over the course of doing this. And it's just awesome to see. She's posted some videos of calling the school districts and saying, hey, how much is your school lunch debt? Well, I want to pay it all off. And she's writing checks and mailing them to the schools. And so what a great thing to not only see somebody want to do it, but actually follow through and do it.
[00:14:22] Speaker C: Yeah, exactly. And you know, it's a very specific thing too. You think about the school lunch debt, it's not just a, it's not a general, hey, I want to help these kids. It's a specific thing that she got involved with, but it just shows the power that one person making that decision to help somebody, what that can lead to.
[00:14:40] Speaker D: Yeah. And once she did it a few times, people realized that she was credible and then she got to raise money and has been able to do it for several school districts all over the world. And so love seeing like ideas take action and actually making it.
[00:14:53] Speaker A: Thanks for catching up. On the morning Journey Rewind podcast with Mark and Brittany.
