[00:00:00] Speaker A: This is the Morning Journey Rewind with Mark and Brittany. Never miss a moment.
[00:00:05] Speaker B: This week on the Morning Journey Rewind, Mark and Brittany announce the Valentine's Day winner and deliver tasty treats. Have you ever been a part of a club? There truly is one for everybody. And did you know Olympians wear airbags? Also, make sure you fill out or sign up for the Journey music crew and share the MyJourney FM app.
[00:00:23] Speaker C: Well, we've been telling you to write your Valentine's Day poems. Make them fun, make them creative. Because today is the day that we pick our winner for our Valentine's Day giveaway.
[00:00:35] Speaker D: We had so many amazing entries, it was so hard to pick. And so the winner of the Floaming Mountain gift card and the roses is Jennifer. Congratulations, Jennifer. We had so many wonderful entries. So we'll be sharing a few of those throughout the week as we lead up to Valentine's Day. But Jennifer says hint, hint, wink, wink. Just a poem to make you think love is hugs and kisses too. Chocolate and flowers will certainly do. But you know what really takes the cake? Letting me sleep in and hot coffee when I wake.
[00:01:05] Speaker C: Hey, how about that?
[00:01:07] Speaker D: I like that one. Good job, Jennifer. Congratulations. You are our winner. We'll be sharing some more throughout the week.
[00:01:13] Speaker A: Your day starts with encouragement the Morning journey with Mark and Brittany.
[00:01:17] Speaker C: Well, there is an office that will be having a nice break during the workday. Later this morning, Brittany and I will be heading out to deliver some tasty treats.
[00:01:25] Speaker D: It is Tuesday, therefore it's time for some Tuesday tasty treats. So this week we are delivering to Laura from Light Counseling. She's been listening to the Journey for a while and she signed up her office. And so they will be partaking in delicious treats from Sweet Indulgence Bakery today. If you want your office to be next, all you have to do is sign up@myjourney fm.com I just kind of channel surfing through the radio.
[00:01:47] Speaker A: Families are catching on and I'm like wow, this is pretty cool to the best way.
[00:01:51] Speaker D: But now this is the only thing.
[00:01:52] Speaker A: I listen to now to wake up.
[00:01:53] Speaker D: My style of everything has started and changed.
[00:01:56] Speaker A: The Morning Journey with Mark and Brittany.
[00:01:58] Speaker C: Well, there is a place for everyone, a club for everyone, including self described doll people. It is called the Doll Club. And this is where Luke and Lily met.
[00:02:10] Speaker D: This is so cute. Now there's nothing dull about their love story. They were actually 4,000 miles apart when they met via the Doll Club on Facebook. Now the club is self described as a group that celebrates the ordinary. So while it Sounds like dull and mundane. They. They celebrate the things in everyday life that a lot of us overlook, which is kind of cool.
[00:02:28] Speaker C: Yeah. And they did not. Luke and Lily. Now, they didn't join the club looking to find someone, but that is what happened. And then when they actually met for the first time, she was in the hospital.
[00:02:40] Speaker D: Yeah, wild story. She ended up having emergency surgery when he was planned to come visit. And instead of saying it's a sign, I shouldn't visit, he visited her anyway in the hospital. And the rest was history from there. So they actually ended up getting married. So you just never know. Like Mark said, there's a place for everyone. Even the self proclaimed dull.
[00:02:58] Speaker A: Good company makes for a great day. The morning journey with Mark and Brittany.
[00:03:03] Speaker C: I was watching the Olympic men's downhill. One of the skiers went down. Now he was okay. He basically fell and slid and then got up and he was all right. But the commentators were talking about his body airbag vest inflating. And when you went back and watched the replay and you could see it that he looked, he was much puffier around his torso.
[00:03:23] Speaker D: I didn't even know that this existed until Lindsey Vonn's wipeout where she, she actually, she tore ACL at the very beginning of the Olympics. And then she competed in her medal run. And when she went down, she actually hit one of the gates and then broke her leg. And so her airbag, you know, inflated then too. So I thought that was pretty cool that they have like airbags that people can wear that will deflate. Cause they're going down those hills like 90 miles per hour sometimes.
[00:03:47] Speaker C: Yeah, the men were hitting like 90. Women, I think like 80. Some of them make 85 miles per hour.
[00:03:52] Speaker D: Terrifying.
[00:03:52] Speaker C: Yeah. Some of the skiers though, don't like wearing them because they think it slows them down. Every millisecond counts in that sport.
[00:03:58] Speaker D: It really does. And it's true, it does slow. I'm sure it does slow you down because it's a little bit heavier or maybe the weight of it makes you faster even. I don't know.
[00:04:08] Speaker C: I kind of thought, what would be like if we had those just in our everyday lives? Like I could have used it last week on the ice.
[00:04:14] Speaker D: I think mine would blow up way too often because I'm very clumsy. I run into stuff a lot. So I think I'd be walking around very puffy all the time.
[00:04:23] Speaker A: Uplifting and encouraging because you need it now more than ever.
[00:04:27] Speaker C: You betcha.
[00:04:28] Speaker A: The morning journey with Mark and Britney.
[00:04:30] Speaker C: The new music crew comes out today, you can help us pick the songs that we play. You can vote on your favorite songs.
[00:04:37] Speaker D: When you fill out that survey by Sunday at midnight, you're automatically then entered into win tickets this time to see Stephen Curtis Chapman coming up in Roanoke later this month. Ron. Right now, for those who have taken it early this morning, no survivors still hanging in at number one, followed by black sheep Ben Fuller at number two. Yeah, climbing fast. So make sure you get that survey taken if you are part of the crew. It is in your email box right now.
[00:05:00] Speaker A: Some great music. The Morning Journey with Mark and Brittany.
[00:05:04] Speaker C: We know a number of you listen on the app and that continues to grow. We still have, obviously, people listening every day on the radio, but more and more people listening on the app, and this is a great opportunity for you to share it with somebody. Maybe they live out of state or out of country, and it gives them an opportunity to listen to the Journey as well.
[00:05:22] Speaker D: We hear from people all the time all over the country and all over the world that listen to the My Journey FM app. It's absolutely free. Whether you have Android or an Apple device, you can get the app. And so if you're listening on the app, make sure you share it with your friends. Tell them, you know, I was thinking of you today. Maybe you need some encouragement. Here is a great app that'll give you life, hope and music.
[00:05:41] Speaker C: We're just gonna worship, we're gonna be.
[00:05:44] Speaker D: Encouraged, and we're just gonna be together.
[00:05:47] Speaker A: That's the idea. You're on the Morning Journey with Mark and Brittany.
[00:05:51] Speaker C: So apparently there is this trend, primarily among middle school boys, that on cold days, they are not wearing their winter coats. Some places they're wearing, like, a light jacket and then shorts.
[00:06:04] Speaker D: So we had to bring in resident middle school boy expert, although in high school now, Deborah, because she has a middle schooler and a. And so we needed to find out, is this true? Is this what they wear to school these days?
[00:06:15] Speaker E: This is very true. There's been many times I've passed a bus stop to see boys in sweatshirts and then, like, basketball shorts when it's 30 degrees out. So, yes, it absolutely happens.
[00:06:27] Speaker C: They say it's because boys are just warmer, like testosterone. So the boys are just warmer. But then other people are saying, no, it's because boys get more attention if they don't wear that big coat, if they've got their jacket and their shorts on. I think that's the real reason.
[00:06:44] Speaker D: Trying to get attention from the ladies. Now, what about Wesley? Like, will he wear, like, A big winter coat or no.
[00:06:49] Speaker E: So he has mixed opinions about it. Now he does walk to school. He has about a five minute walk, but there have been mornings when he comes down and I'm like, just put on your jacket. And he's like, I don't want to or give some excuse. So, yeah, I think it kind of continues and trails into high school of what they will actually wear.
[00:07:11] Speaker D: Yeah. And at this age you can't really, like, they're not like, my daughter's like three, so I can force her to wear a coat. Whereas like at your kid's age you're just like, please wear a coat.
[00:07:19] Speaker E: Wesley's 3, 4 inches taller than me, so there's no wrestling him into anything. Yeah.
[00:07:25] Speaker D: So now we know.
Coat or no coat.
[00:07:29] Speaker A: Start on a positive note. You're on the morning journey with Mark and Brittany.
[00:07:34] Speaker C: Well, Brittany's daughter Stella had a big show and tell yesterday.
[00:07:38] Speaker D: Yeah. We decided to bring some nostalgia to the classroom. So it was funn because they always have a letter where they have to bring a certain show and tell item with that letter. And the letter was V. I thought V was gonna be really hard because, I mean, I'm not having her take a vacuum to school or, you know, so I was struggling and it was Valentine's Day already, so the kids already had Valentine's at school.
[00:07:59] Speaker C: Can't do that.
[00:08:00] Speaker D: She couldn't bring that. So then I remembered when we moved my grandma into assisted living, I took one of these from her house. Cause I remember having it as a kid and loving it. One of the View Masters. Oh yeah, Remember those?
[00:08:10] Speaker C: Yeah. My sister and I had one when we were kids.
[00:08:12] Speaker D: They were so cool. And so if you don't know what a View Master is, for all the young people out there, it's like basically binoculars, but you stick a disc inside of it that has pictures on it.
[00:08:21] Speaker C: A slide.
[00:08:22] Speaker D: Right, Like a slide. And then you pull the handle and the slides change and you can see like cool pictures. And so there was one for Sea World and I thought, the kids are going to love the animals in here. And so I sent that to school with her and her teacher was like, we want to let you know we loved her show and tell. It was such a walk down memory lane. So if you don't know what a View Master is, look it up. But a lot of fun at show and tell for the kids.
[00:08:42] Speaker C: I wonder if they still make those.
[00:08:44] Speaker D: I don't know. I mean, I would say they probably make the actual View Master, but like finding the slides to Go in them. They probably don't make those anymore, I would say.
[00:08:54] Speaker C: I think that's like one of the. That's like an analog toy that should have. That they should have just kept making.
[00:08:59] Speaker D: So cool. It's like better than buying like a postcard or taking your own. Like if you forget to take pictures somewhere, it's like you have the memories right there in the View Master hosts.
[00:09:08] Speaker A: That make you feel like family. You're on the Morning Journey with Mark and Brittany.
[00:09:12] Speaker C: Well, back a few weeks ago, we had told you that the Journey had again won best radio DJs for the morning show. Thank you, by the way, to everybody that voted. And on Monday, we're gonna do a special of Facebook Live.
[00:09:25] Speaker D: Yeah, we came in the other day and there was a banner and a plaque sitting on our desk. So thank you so much to Lynchburg Living and for Cindy for dropping that off. And we're so excited to be able to hang the banner. So Monday, join us on Facebook Live. Around 8:30, we'll be doing a ceremony and exchanging of the guard, as we like to say here, and placing the new banner.
[00:09:45] Speaker A: Start on a positive note. You're on the Morning Journey with Mark and Brittany.
[00:09:50] Speaker C: Brittany, have you ever had caviar?
[00:09:52] Speaker D: I have not actually. And I'm one to try everything, but that's one that I've like. I don't think I've ever been to a fancy enough restaurant to even see caviar on the menu.
[00:10:00] Speaker C: I have never tried it either. Been at a couple parties where people had it, but. But I, But I didn't.
[00:10:04] Speaker D: Mark going to some fancy parties.
[00:10:05] Speaker C: No, it wasn't.
[00:10:08] Speaker D: Or people just like caviar.
[00:10:09] Speaker C: Yeah, I didn't really know what it was, so that tells you where, where I am. But it was at the party, so I've never had it either. But if you're looking to kind of dress up your Valentine's Day plans, McDonald's is offering the caviar kit.
[00:10:23] Speaker D: Excuse me, What?
[00:10:24] Speaker C: Yes, the caviar kit. It's a combination of caviar and McNuggets.
[00:10:30] Speaker D: I don't think the first time I want to try caviar is through a McDonald's drive through. Like, where are they getting this from?
[00:10:36] Speaker C: So there's a company that they partner with to provide the caviar. It's a lavish way to experience Valentine's Day. But each kit comes with as a collaboration between Paramount, Caviar and then the nuggets.
[00:10:51] Speaker D: Like, do you put it on nuggets? Aren't you supposed to Put caviar on a cracker on something and not eat it. Okay. So you put it on the chicken. Maybe you can dip your fries in there.
[00:11:01] Speaker C: Yeah, so they're showing. There's a little. Yeah, okay.
[00:11:05] Speaker D: Oh, okay. Yeah, it looks interesting. I don't know if I would want to try it on a chicken nugget for the first time.
[00:11:11] Speaker C: It says that the caviar and chicken nuggets has proved to be a favorite combo for years.
[00:11:17] Speaker D: For years. People have been doing this for years.
[00:11:20] Speaker C: So they say.
[00:11:21] Speaker D: Okay, well, if you want to make your Valentine feel fancy, take her to McDonald's. Make sure you just get the caviar kit.
[00:11:28] Speaker A: Your day starts with encouragement. The Morning journey with Mark and Brittany.
[00:11:33] Speaker C: We announced the winner of our Valentine's poem contest the other day. But this week we've also been reading poems from some of the finalists. Great job, by the way, to everybody who entered. A lot of creativity.
[00:11:46] Speaker D: Some people were really sweet, some people were funny. Everyone was super creative. And so Jennifer was our winner. But I wanted to read Kelly's this morning. She said, our very first date in 82 such fun and kindness in eyes of blue A decade passes we had two Then we met Jesus and made all things new A decade more with children 4 we heard his call to a foreign shore decade 3 how can it be children off to liberty 2 sailors look at 40 years still diving in still without fears, still deep waters and eyes of blue still kind and fun Still I love you.
[00:12:21] Speaker C: Yeah, I like that. That's.
It's a poem and a story of their life together.
[00:12:25] Speaker D: Right? We get to like, we heard all of Kelly's story and her husband's story together with their kids and so absolutely love that. You guys did such a good job. I turn y' all on in the morning when I get in my truck. It's helpful when I'm taking the kids to school. Here we go.
[00:12:39] Speaker A: It's the Morning Journey with Mark and Brittany.
[00:12:42] Speaker C: Hey. Join us Monday.
We will be doing a Facebook live. We'll be hanging our new Lynchburg Living banner.
[00:12:49] Speaker D: We're so excited. Thank you again for voting us best radio DJs for Lynchburg Living's best of. So we are in the magazine if you have a copy of it on page 126. I showed my mother in law last night. I was like, look, there we are. So thank you so much for just voting and for being a part of the morning journey. We're so, so appreciative of you listening throughout the day wherever you listen on the app if you stream us, if you listen on the radio. Thank you. And so, yeah, on Monday around 8:30ish, join us live on Facebook and we'll be exchanging the banners, as they say.
[00:13:19] Speaker A: Thanks for catching up on the morning Journey Rewind podcast with Mark and Brittany.
